Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base on Thursday as the Reds dispatched of the visiting Marlins.
The 23-year-old All-Star shortstop singled off of Cal Quantrill with two outs in the opening inning, swiped second base and raced around to score the game’s first run on an RBI single off the bat of Spencer Steer. He then tacked on an RBI single of his own in the sixth that made it a 4-0 ballgame and scored on a two-run single by Hays. He has had a terrific first half at the dish, slashing .280/.351/.488 with 18 homers, 63 RBI, 71 runs scored and 23 stolen bases (in 29 attempts).
