  • TOR Left Fielder #36

Davis Schneider is starting in left field and batting seventh for the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
With the Blue Jays facing left-hander MacKenzie Gore, they will go with a righty-heavy outfield with Schneider in left field and Myles Straw in center field. Both Nathan Lukes and Alan Roden will move to the bench.

MASN’s Roch Kubatko reports that Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) will likely rejoin the Orioles next week.
That will conveniently coincide with when Ryan O’Hearn likely gets traded to another team. Mountcastle has gone 6-for-12 with a home run and three RBI on his rehab assignment and could return to an everyday role when he’s back for the series against the Phillies next week. His playing time likely depends on whether or not the Orioles want Coby Mayo to be their regular first baseman for the final two months of the year.
Judge's return as DH will change Yankees' lineup
Eric Samulski digs into the fantasy fallout from Aaron Judge's trip to the 10-day injured list, highlighting why Trent Grisham should see a boost and how Giancarlo Stanton could eventually be negatively impacted.
  • BAL 3rd Baseman #16
Coby Mayo is starting at first base and batting seventh in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old figures to start both games of the doubleheader with the Blue Jays throwing two left-handed pitchers. Mayo has started the second half going 7-for-17 with two home runs and five RBI. With Ryan O’Hearn likely being moved at the deadline, it’s possible that we will finally see Mayo get consistent playing time at the big league level and make good on his prospect pedigree.
  • MIA 1st Baseman
MLB.com’s Christina De Nicola reports that 1B Troy Johnston is headed to St. Louis to join the Marlins.
The Marlins have a 40-man roster spot open after trading Nick Fortes to the Rays, and it appears that Johnston will be called up to take that spot. The 28-year-old is hitting .252/.333/.439 with 12 home runs and 31 steals in 84 games at Triple-A this season. His power hasn’t quite gotten back to the levels that saw him hit 26 home runs in 2023, but his average exit velocity on the season is 90.9 mph, so there is still some thump in his bat. Johnston has played 33 games at 1B this season and 33 games in left field, so he could fill in at multiple spots with Liam Hicks now likely becoming the backup catcher behind Agustin Ramirez. Johnston could be an asset in deeper leagues with his modest power/speed upside.
  • STL 3rd Baseman #28
MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reports that “Nolan Arenado’s name has come up in trade talks between the Astros and Cardinals.”
It makes sense with Isaac Paredes (hamstring) likely out for a while that the Astros would be looking to find a replacement at third base for the remainder of the season. Morosi indicates that “there’s no momentum toward a deal as of this morning,” but things can change quickly this close to the deadline.
  • TOR Right Fielder #4
George Springer (head) is not in the lineup for Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Orioles on Tuesday.
Springer was removed from Monday night’s game after being hit in the head by a pitch. He is reportedly feeling better and remains with the team, but Davis Schneider will DH and hit second for Game 1. It remains to be seen if Springer feels good enough to play in Game 2.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #58
Blue Jays optioned LHP Justin Bruihl to Triple-A Buffalo.
Bruihl is being sent down to make room for Easton Lucas, who is starting Game 1 of the doubleheader on Tuesday. Bruihl has a 6.48 ERA in 8 1/3 innings out of the Blue Jays’ bullpen this season.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #62
Blue Jays recalled LHP Easton Lucas from Triple-A Buffalo.
Lucas will start Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Orioles and will likely be sent back down after. He has a 5.82 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 21 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays this year in five appearances (four starts).
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #63
Orioles recalled RHP Brandon Young from High-A Aberdeen.
Young will serve as the 27th man for Tuesday’s doubleheader. However, with all of Charlie Morton, Zach Eflin, and Tomoyuki Sugano on the trade block, there is a chance that Young will remain with the team after the deadline. However, the 26-year-old has a 7.34 ERA in 30 2/3 innings for the Orioles this year and remains off the fantasy radar.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #76
Orioles recalled RHP Yaramil Hiraldo from Triple-A Norfolk.
With Colin Selby (hamstring) landing on the IL, Hiraldo will get another shot in the Orioles bullpen. He’s allowed no runs on one hit in 2 1/3 innings for Baltimore this season and has a 5.16 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 43/8 K/BB ratio in 29 2/3 innings at Triple-A this year.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #60
Orioled placed RHP Colin Selby on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Selby has a 4.09 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 11 innings out of the bullpen for the Orioles. There is no word yet on his timeline for a return.
