Ryan Walker slammed the door on the Astros on Tuesday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a two-run advantage.
Walker didn’t show any ill effects of the back tightness that sidelined him over the weekend, needing just 13 pitches (nine strikes) to retire Isaac Paredes, Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker in succession. The 29-year-old right-hander has now converted each of his first two save chances while compiling a 3.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 2/1 K/BB ratio across his first three innings.

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that Mariners’ outfielder Victor Robles (shoulder) is expected to land on the injured list.
Morosi notes that the Mariners are still working to determine the severity of the shoulder injury that he suffered on Sunday, but a trip to the injured list seems inevitable. Morosi also speculates that Dominic Canzone is under consideration to be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to take Robles’ spot on the Mariners’ active roster.

The Cardinals are expected to recall Yohel Pozo from Triple-A Memphis in the wake of the injury to Ivan Herrera (knee).
Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol said Sunday night that Herrera wasn’t dealing with any sort of structural damage and that he’s not looking at a “crazy recovery”. Pedro Pages will assume the bulk of the playing time behind the dish while Herrera is sidelined with Pozo serving as his backup.
  • DET Shortstop #80
Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that Tigers’ prospect Kevin McGonigle is expected to miss some time due to an ankle injury.
The 20-year-old phenom was noticeably absent from the lineup at High-A West Michigan on Sunday and now it appears we know why. Morosi noted that the extent of the injury — and the amount of time that he may miss — are not yet clear. While he’s not expected to reach the big leagues in 2025, if McGonigle winds up missing substantial time it could push his arrival back a bit.
  • BOS Third Baseman #2
Alex Bregman went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI on Sunday night as the Red Sox demolished the Cardinals 18-2 at Fenway Park.
After singling in the first inning, Bregman smacked a two-run double off of Miles Mikolas in the second that increase the Red Sox’ lead to 4-1. He then scored on a two-run double by Wilyer Abreu. Bregman did more damage in the third, crushing a 411-foot (103.9 mph EV) three-run shot off of Gordon Graceffo that made it a 10-1 ballgame. With the four-hit attack, the 31-year-old third baseman is now slashing a healthy .341/.383/.591 with two homers and 10 RBI through his first 10 games with the Red Sox.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Rafael Devers went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and three RBI as the Red Sox routed the Cardinals in the nightcap of Sunday’s doubleheader.
Devers had already homered and driven in a pair of runs in the first game on Sunday. He smacked a one-out single off of Miles Mikolas in the opening inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI single by Wilyer Abreu. He then walked and scored in the second, singled and scored in the third and laced an RBI double to center in the fifth inning that increased the Red Sox’ lead to 11-2. He finished his day with a two-run double in the sixth and scored on an RBI double by Alex Bregman. It seems like his early-season struggles are now in the rearview mirror as he’s slashing .263/.404/.421 with a homer and eight RBI.
  • BOS Third Baseman #3
Ceddanne Rafaela went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base as the Red Sox pummeled the Cardinals on Sunday evening.
Rafaela was one of four players in the Red Sox’ lineup with at least three hits on Sunday night, joining Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers and Alex Bregman. Even with this monster day at the dish though, his overall numbers on the season look quite underwhelming, as he’s slashing just .200/.273/.200 with zero homers, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #92
Hunter Dobbins picked up a victory in his big league debut on Sunday night, limiting the Cardinals to two runs on eight hits over his five innings of work.
The right-hander punched out five opposing hitters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The damage done against him came in the form of an RBI double by Brendan Donovan in the first inning and an RBI single by Masyn Winn in the fourth. The Red Sox staked him to a huge early lead, so all Dobbins needed to do was keep the train on the tracks to earn a victory in this one. He’ll head back to Triple-A Worcester after this start where he’ll continue to hone his craft until he’s called upon once more.
  • STL Shortstop #25
Thomas Saggese clobbered his first home run of the 2025 season as the Cardinals were crushed by the Red Sox on Sunday evening in Boston.
Saggese got his first at-bat in the game in the seventh inning where he plated Lars Nootbaar with a sacrifice fly that pulled the Cardinals to within 13 runs at 16-3. He made things a bit tighter in the ninth as he tagged Cooper Criswell for a 430-foot (109.0 mph EV) three-run shot that made it 18-7. He’s now 2-for-4 in his limited action on the season.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #39
Miles Mikolas was absolutely annihilated in Sunday night’s loss to the Red Sox, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on a whopping 11 hits over 2 2/3 innings of work. Yikes. Mikolas also walked one while recording one strikeout in the contest. After scratching out a run in the first inning, the Red Sox pounced for five in the second including two-run doubles from both Wilyer Abreu and Alex Bregman. They added another three while chasing him from the game in the third inning. He’ll try to pull himself off the mat and improve upon a miserable 11.25 ERA and 2.00 WHIP when he takes on the Phillies at home on Saturday.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #47
Yankees optioned LHP Brent Headrick to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yankees plan to re-sign Adam Ottavino to a major league deal on Monday and they needed to free up a roster spot to do so, which unfortunately means that Headrick finds himself on the outside looking in at the moment. The 27-year-old hurler had been terrific in four appearances with the Yankees, firing 5 1/3 scoreless innings with a 0.56 WHIP and a 9/2 K/BB ratio. It shouldn’t take him long to earn another opportunity with the Yankees.
