Dean Kremer allowed five runs with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
The Blue Jays were on Kremer early, driving in a pair of runs on three hits and a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Andrés Giménez added two more runs on a homer in the third. Kremer surrendered a fifth run in the fifth and recorded the first out in the sixth before his day was done at 81 pitches. The 29-year-old right-hander fell in line for the win with nine runs of support. He’ll take on the Royals in Kansas City on Friday.

Brice Matthews will start at second base and bat eighth for the Astros in his Major League debut against the Rangers on Friday night.
The 23-year-old top prospect is expected to get a real shot at becoming the team’s regular season baseman. He possesses an intriguing blend of power and speed which makes him an interesting addition in deeper mixed leagues for the second half of the season.
Players to watch in MLB All-Star Futures Game
James Schiano spotlights the rising stars to watch in this weekend's 2025 All-Star Futures Game in Atlanta.
  • CWS 1st Baseman #30
Tim Elko was removed from the first game of Friday’s doubleheader against the Guardians due to right knee soreness.
The severity of the injury — as well as how much time the 26-year-old slugger may stand to miss — are not yet known. Stay tuned, as the White Sox should have an update on his status after the game.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #9
Astros transferred OF Zach Dezenzo to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 25-year-old slugger, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the addition of Brice Matthews on Friday. Dezenzo is currently pain free as he continues to recover from a capsule sprain in his left hand. He has yet to resume hitting yet and will require a minor league rehab assignment once he’s ready for live action. He now won’t be eligible to rejoin the Astros until early August.
  • HOU Center Fielder #6
Astros placed OF Jake Meyers on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 10, with a right calf strain.
The 29-year-old outfielder suffered the injury during pregame warmups on Wednesday. While it sounded initially like something he would be able to play through, the Astros are going to do the smart thing and sit him down through the weekend to ensure that it gets right. He should be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #25
Rays recall INF Curtis Mead from Triple-A Durham.
Mead is able to come up a week after being demoted with Brandon Lowe (oblique) hitting the 10-day injured list. The 24-year-old will likely be a bench option who can handle a few infield positions while with the club.
  • TB 2nd Baseman #8
Rays placed INF Brandon Lowe on the 10-day injured list with left oblique tightness.
Lowe missed four straight games with soreness in his side, and the Rays won’t play short-handed for the final weekend before the break. The 31-year-old could return relatively soon if there are no setbacks, but for now, Curtis Mead will take his place on the roster.
  • ARI Center Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll is not in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Angels.
Carroll is getting a day of maintenance to open the three-game series against Los Angeles. He’ll rest with Randal Grichuk getting a start in right field against left-hander Tyler Anderson.
  • NYM 1st Baseman #29
Mets recalled INF Jared Young from Triple-A Syracuse.
Young will be a bench option for the Mets after Jesse Winker was placed on the 10-day injured list with back inflammation.
  • NYM Left Fielder #3
Mets placed OF Jesse Winker on the 10-day injured list with back inflammation.
Winker left Thursday’s game against the Orioles with tightness in his back, and further testing revealed the inflammation. The 31-year-old will be out through the All-Star break at least, and then could be back — assuming no setbacks — near the end of July.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #60
Mariners recall Tayler Saucedo from Triple-A Tacoma.
Saucedo is up with Carlos Vargas unavailable after being placed on the paternity list. He’s unlikely to work as anything more than a middle-inning option while he’s in Seattle.
