Juan Soto went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and also walked on Friday, powering the Mets to a 3-1 win over the Astros.
It didn’t take much time for Soto to make amends for a game-ending strikeout on Opening Day. He turned on a 96-mph cutter from Astros starter Hunter Brown that was up-and-in on his hands and blasted it nearly 400 feet deep into the right-field stands. Regular hitters can’t do things like that. Soto is not a regular hitter, though. It’s only been two games, but he looks comfortable and downright thrilled to be a Met.

Rangers RHP prospect Emiliano Teodo struck out four over two perfect innings in relief on Tuesday for Triple-A Round Rock.
The Rangers have expressed a desire to continue developing Teodo as a starter, but he looks like a potential lights-out relief arm thanks to his triple-digit fastball velocity and hard-biting slider. The flamethrowing 24-year-old is basically a two-pitch prospect at this point, which is why he probably makes more sense in a high-leverage role. He’s a name to watch in deeper mixed leagues on the chance that Texas decides to give him a shot at closing in the near future.
  • TOR Shortstop #11
Bo Bichette had a go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the eighth as the Blue Jays bested the Nationals 5-3 on Tuesday.
The Jays wound up with 12 hits tonight, none of them going for extra bases. Still, it was good enough for a win. It’s the first time they’ve had that many singles and nothing else since Aug. 8, 2014. Bichette is off to a 9-for-24 start and has scored four runs in six games as the Jays’ leadoff man.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
José Berríos pitched 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball Tuesday against the Nationals.
Berríos got through five scoreless before giving up three hits and a walk in the sixth tonight. The Jays were up 3-2 when he was pulled, and Yariel Rodríguez stranded both runners he inherited then. However, Rodríguez did combine with Mason Fluharty in coughing up the lead in the seventh. Berríos wound up striking out eight and walking three. It ended poorly, but it was a nice bounce back from his miserable Opening Day start. He’ll get the Red Sox next in Boston.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #29
Yariel Rodríguez allowed one run in one inning of relief for a hold Tuesday against the Nationals.
The Blue Jays definitely are not acting like they intend to return Rodríguez to the rotation with Max Scherzer out; he’s pitched exactly one inning in each of his three appearances to date. Easton Lucas will be getting the start in Scherzer’s place on Wednesday.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #23
Jeff Hoffman worked a perfect ninth with a two-run lead for a save Tuesday against the Nationals.
An easy one for Hoffman, who needed to throw just eight pitches tonight. Still, this was his third appearance in four days, which probably means he’ll be down Wednesday. Yimi García could get a save opportunity then.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #32
Trevor Wiliams surrendered three runs and 10 hits in five innings Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
This is the Williams we remember, not the guy who somehow never gave up more than six hits in any of his 13 starts last year. All of the knocks were singles, and he didn’t walk anyone, so he was able to keep the Nationals in the game. However, while the offense was able to tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh, the bullpen lost it from there.
  • WSH Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a steal versus the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Abrams also homered Monday off Bowden Francis. That was the hardest-hit ball of his career, checking in at 112.7 mph, and one of his hits tonight wasn’t too far behind at 111.1 mph. Abrams had 20 homers in 602 plate appearances last season, and it seems he might be a little stronger now; he’s probably a little underrated in fantasy leagues.
  • LAD Catcher #94
Dodgers C prospect Dalton Rushing was removed from Tuesday’s game at Triple-A Oklahoma City with a possible injury.
Rushing took a hard foul tip directly to the mask during Tuesday’s contest. He managed to stay in the game to complete the inning, but was removed shortly afterwards. He’ll presumably undergo further evaluation and testing to rule out a possible concussion. There should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days.
  • SF Center Fielder #17
Heliot Ramos slugged his third home run of the season on Tuesday night, powering the Giants to a 3-1 victory over the Astros in Houston.
Ramos did his damage in the fourth inning of this one, taking a 1-2 sweeper from Hayden Wesneski and pulling it for a 364-foot (108.3 mph EV) solo shot into the Crawford boxes in left field. The 25-year-old outfielder has been sizzling at the plate to open the 2025 campaign, hitting .286 (6-for-21) with three homers, five RBI and a stolen base in his first five contests.
  • SF Shortstop #2
Willy Adames smacked a go-ahead two-run double on Tuesday night, helping to lead the Giants to victory over the Astros.
Adames opened the scoring in the third inning with his two-run double off of Hayden Wesneski after Patrick Bailey and Christian Koss had walked. That would be the 29-year-old shortstop’s only hit in four at-bats on the evening. His Giants’ career has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, slashing just .158/.190/.211 with zero homers and three RBI.
