MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson reports Alan Roden has made the Blue Jays’ season-opening roster.
Roden hit .423 with two home runs and six RBI in 19 games this spring. His inclusion on the Opening Day roster is a mild surprise. Daulton Varsho starting the year on the injured list opened the door for Roden to make the team, though the Blue Jays have plenty of options in the outfield with Myles Straw, Nathan Lukes, Addison Barger and Davis Schneider. At least one of them likely won’t make the team now. Roden will likely get a chance to see regular playing time to start the year and is worth an endgame pick in AL-Only leagues.
