Colson Montgomery (back) could return to games this weekend.
Montgomery was scratched with back spasms on February 27th and has not been in a game since. He has been taking swings off a pitching machine this week and expects to be back in games this weekend, so it appears that he avoided any major injury.
  • ATL Shortstop #11

Orlando Arcia is out of the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Phillies.
Arcia started the first two games of the series against Philadelphia, but he’ll retreat to the bench again with Nick Allen getting the start at shortstop. Allen has seen more playing time than anticipated, but neither makes for a great fantasy option.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #13
Junior Caminero went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a blowout loss to the Rays on Thursday
Caminero scored the only run for the Rays on a single from Jonathan Aranda in the fourth. He’s been solid — if unspectacular — over the first two weeks of the season with a .282 average and .720 OPS.
  • LAA Center Fielder #7
Jo Adell homered twice and drove in four runs in a rout for the Angels over the Rays on Thursday.
Three different players hit multiple homers for the Angels, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. The 26-year-old has his first two homers of the season, and he improved his slash of .226/.294/.452. It’s understandable to be skeptical, but Adell is capable of a breakout season. It’s also understandable to believe it won’t come in 2025.
  • LAA Right Fielder #3
Taylor Ward homered twice in a blowout win Thursday over the Rays.
Ward got the Angels off to a hot start with a leadoff homer off Zack Littell, and the Angels would connect on five more roundtrippers. Ward was responsible for another of those blasts, and now has three on the season. The outfielder is notorious for going through hot-and-cold streaks, so this could be the start of a good run for the 31-year-old.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout homered twice and drove in three runs in an 11-1 shellacking of the Rays on Thursday.
Vintage. Trout and the Angels walloped six homers against Zack Littell and the Rays’ bullpen, and the outfielder was responsible for a third of that production. His .205 average isn’t ideal, but five homers and a .568 slugging mark shows that power hasn’t gone anywhere. If Trout can stay on the field, he’s going to be a fantasy steal for those who procured his services in the middle rounds.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #59
Jose Soriano allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings to get a win Thursday over the Rays while striking out four.
Soriano wasn’t dominant, as he walked three in the contest and allowed five hits with the aforementioned four strikeouts He was efficient, however, and worked into the eighth inning in a start where the Angels gave him a touchdown and field goal with a two-point conversion of support. Soriano has been solid in 2025 with a 2.70 ERA, and he’ll look to keep it going — maybe with a few more punchouts — against Texas next week.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #52
Zack Littell gave up seven runs in four innings to pick up a loss Thursday to the Rays.
Littell allowed four of the six homers that the Angels hit during Thursday’s blowout win. The 29-year-old was able to go seven innings against the Rangers in his last outing, but was never going to reach that total Thursday as he couldn’t keep the ball in the (minor league) park. He’ll try and rebound Tuesday against Boston.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #56
Red Sox released LHP Matt Moore.
The transaction log says release, but there’s a pretty good chance Moore opted out of his minor league contract. The left-hander didn’t make the Opening Day roster, and he’ll now be free to look for an opportunity to pitch at the highest level.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #1
Ryan Bliss will undergo surgery to repair his torn left biceps.
The surgery will take place Friday, and Bliss is expected to miss 4-5 months while recovering. That could put the 25-year-old back near the end of the season, but there’s at least a decent chance he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season. It’s a big loss for the Mariners because of his defense at second, but Bliss wasn’t quite on the fantasy roster in redraft leagues.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #99
Spencer Strider (elbow) struck out 13 batters over 5 1/3 innings in his rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett.
Strider was able to get up to 90 pitches, and to say he looks ready for the highest level is the understatement of understatements. The right-hander has now made three rehab starts, and assuming there’s no setbacks, the next outing should be with Atlanta. Get ready, folks.
