JP Sears wasn’t at his best in Sunday’s exhibition outing against the Dodgers, surrendering two runs on three hits over his three innings of work.
The 29-year-old southpaw also issued a pair of walks while recording only one strikeout in the ballgame. While there were baserunners throughout his outing, the damage done against Sears came in the second inning as David Bote crushed a two-run homer to left. Through his first two spring starts, he now holds a 3.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio across five frames.
  • CLE Outfield #22

Nolan Jones homered, doubled and drove in four runs in a 9-6 win for the Guardians over the Brewers on Saturday.
It’s the first spring roundtripper for Jones. The 27-year-old outfielder was atrocious in 2025 with a .211/.296/.304 slash with five homers, but he’s not long removed from being one of the more intriguing outfielders in baseball. Still, fantasy managers would be right to take a wait-and-see approach in this situation.
Schiano: It's 'impossible' to draft Westburg
Eric Samulski and James Schiano react to Jordan Westburg's latest injury and why fantasy managers should not be drafting him.
  • CWS Catcher #7
Edgar Quero went 3-for-3 while driving in four runs in an 11-2 win for the White Sox on Saturday over the Athletics.
Quero hit a pair of two-run singles. The 22-year-old backstop was the subject of trade rumors this winter as Kyle Teel appears to be their answer at catcher, but there’s a decent chance he’ll still get some solid playing time in 2026.
  • SEA Infield #21
Miles Mastrobuoni hit a grand slam Saturday in a 10-5 Cactus League loss to the Giants.
He also doubled. Mastrobuoni took Hayden Birdsong deep to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead in the first inning. It’d be the last run Seattle would score. Mastrobuoni provided versatility off the bench in 2025, but he’s not a lock to make the roster to open 2026.
  • CHC 3rd Baseman
Jonathon Long left Saturday’s Cactus League game against the Rangers with a left elbow sprain.
It initially appeared that Long’s injury was related to his wrist, but the Cubs have clarified the situation. The infielder is one of the better bats at the upper level in Chicago’s system, and assuming good health, he has a strong chance of making his debut in 2026.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #26
Logan Allen threw two scoreless innings Saturday in the Guardians’ 4-2 defeat of the Reds.
He allowed one hit, walked one and struck out two. Allen was an adequate starter for the Guardians last season, going 8-11 with a 4.25 ERA, but he was left off the postseason roster and he’s probably going to have to fight to keep his spot this spring. He’s hardly a bad fifth starter, but he just doesn’t have much of a ceiling.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #26
Chase Burns walked three but held the Guardians hitless and scoreless for two innings in his start Saturday.
Burns wasn’t quite in peak form today, with his velocity down about two mph from last year. That’s fine, though. The 23-year-old struck out two and managed to avoid giving up any hard contact in the 32-pitch outing.
  • CIN Pitcher #25
Pitching behind Chase Burns, Rhett Lowder allowed one run and struck out four in two innings Saturday against the Guardians.
Burns went without allowing a run, but Lowder was the more impressive of the two today, allowing just one hard-hit ball and producing a 46% CSW. Those two are the favorites to open up as the Reds’ fifth starter this season. It’ll be hard for some to imagine the Reds leaving Burns out of the rotation after all the potential he displayed last year, but Lowder is plenty intriguing, too, and might win the job initially.
  • CIN Outfield #30
Will Benson homered against his former team to produce the Reds’ only two runs Saturday in a loss to the Guardians.
That the Reds considered JJ Bleday an apparent upgrade from Benson doesn’t like great news for the 27-year-old, and now they could now bypass both and play Spencer Steer in left field after signing Eugenio Suárez. Still, Benson might be the Reds’ best option in left against righties. Statcast thought he was pretty unlucky to finish at .226/.273/.435 last year, and along with his improved EV numbers, he did nice work to lower his strikeout rate last season.
  • SEA Pitcher #36
Logan Gilbert will make his spring training debut against the Dodgers on Monday.
Gilbert’s 2025 season was limited by injuries, but when healthy he posted an outstanding 173/31 K/BB ratio over 131 innings with a 3.45 ERA. He should pitch at or near the top of the Seattle rotation to open 2026, and he has the most upside of any of the Mariners’ starters from a fantasy perspective.
  • WSH 3rd Baseman #38
Trey Lipscomb went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a walk as a Nationals split-squad topped the Cardinals 6-2 on Saturday.
Lipscomb, who broke out at this time two years ago, is in Nationals camp as a non-roster player after clearing waivers back in November. The Nationals don’t have an established third baseman and might slide Luis García Jr. from second to first, so there’s opportunity for Lipscomb to come away with a job with a big March. Last year’s .249/.305/.392 line in Triple-A doesn’t bode well, however.
