Sawyer Gipson-Long (right UCL surgery) will throw a bullpen on Friday.
Gipson-Long was impressive in his four-start MLB debut in 2023, pitching to a 2.70 ERA with a 26/8 K/BB ratio in 20 innings. He then got hurt early in 2024 and underwent Tommy John surgery in April and left hip surgery in July. The Tigers claim that he will be ready to pitch in MLB games around the All-Star break, and there’s a real chance that he could pitch his way into the rotation if he looks half as good as he did back in 2023.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports Jurickson Profar has received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for a performance enhancing substance.
Atlanta’s nightmarish start to the 2025 campaign continues. Profar put together an unexpected breakthrough campaign last year with the Padres, which now has some additional context, before signing a three-year, $42 million in the offseason to take over as the Braves’ everyday left fielder. His absence also creates a void in the leadoff spot. The club’s recent outfield additions, most notably Alex Verdugo and Stuart Fairchild, make a lot more sense with Profar set to miss the entire first half of the season. It’ll be some combination of Jarred Kelenic and Bryan De La Cruz getting the first shot at replacing him in Atlanta’s lineup. It remains to be seen whether the Braves will finally commit to putting Michael Harris II in the leadoff spot. We’ll see.
  • PHI Left Fielder #12
Kyle Schwarber clobbered his third home run of the season on Monday, leading the Phillies to a 6-1 comeback victory over the Rockies.
Schwarber gave the Phillies a commanding three-run lead courtesy of a seventh-inning blast — his third round-tripper of the season — off Rockies reliever Victor Vodnik. The 32-year-old impending free agent is off to a stellar start this season, batting .353 (6-for-17) with three homers and six RBI through four games.
  • COL Catcher #15
Hunter Goodman launched a solo homer on Monday in a loss to the Rockies.
Goodman broke up a scoreless stalemate in the sixth inning when he connected on a hanging slider from Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sánchez, sending it 405 feet into the right-center field seats. It was his first round-tripper of the year.
  • PHI Shortstop #7
Trea Turner (back) walked and scored a run as a pinch-hitter on Monday against the Rockies.
Turner came off the bench to pinch-hit in the seventh inning, his first appearance since Opening Day due to back spasms. The 31-year-old shortstop expressed optimism prior to Monday’s series opener that he would be ready to play by Wednesday, but clearly felt well enough to help out in a close ballgame. It’s a welcome development for fantasy managers as they attempt to navigate the avalanche of early-season injuries.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #61
Cristopher Sánchez recorded seven strikeouts and allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Rockies.
Sánchez’s spring velocity uptick carried over into his highly-anticipated season debut as he sat consistently in the 95-98 mph range on his sinker. The 28-year-old emerging fantasy ace generated 15 swinging strikes, including 12 on his signature changeup alone. He gave the Phillies, and fantasy managers, a brief scare in the fifth inning when he appeared to suffer an injury while running to cover first base, but was able to remain in the contest. He was lifted at 93 pitches (59 strikes) after serving up a one-out solo homer to Rockies backstop Hunter Goodman on a full-count changeup that caught too much of the plate. He’ll face off against the Dodgers fully operational Death Star on Sunday to close out a two-start week.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #48
Germán Márquez struck out four over six shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Phillies.
Márquez left his season debut in line for an impressive road win after holding Philadelphia’s offense to just four hits over six frames, but the Rockies bullpen immediately imploded following his departure to spoil things. The 30-year-old righty has been limited to just five starts over the last two years due to injury, but he’s healthy now, and offers some appeal in deeper mixed leagues as a matchup-dependent streaming option away from Coors Field. He’s not a recommended fantasy option this weekend when he faces the Athletics at home.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #39
Chad Patrick will start on Tuesday against the Royals.
The winless Brewers will turn things over to Patrick, who has exactly one career appearance under his belt, to attempt to turn things around. Milwaukee’s pitching staff has been bludgeoned for a staggering 47 runs through four games to open the season. It’s not what you want. It probably can’t get worse, but you never know.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #50
Kris Bubic shut out the Brewers for six innings and struck out eight in the Royals’ 11-1 rout Monday.
Dominant. Bubic allowed just one hard-hit ball in six innings against a quality lineup, and that was a harmless groundout. The three singles he gave up were all soft, peaking at 74 mph off the bat. Fatigue should eventually become a factor for Bubic, who had Tommy John surgery three starts into 2023 and worked as a reliever after returning last year, but he’s a mixed-league worthy starter right now. He’ll face the Orioles next time out.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #35
Elvin Rodriguez surrendered four runs in four innings Monday in his spot start against the Royals.
Three of the runs came in the first, an inning that featured a weak chopper for a single and then a ground rule double that probably would have been caught had Jackson Chourio been playing left field. Instead, Christian Yelich was out there for the first time this season. Rodriguez rebounded afterwards, but the Brewers couldn’t ask for much length from him today, given that he topped out at 62 pitches in spring training and threw just 34 in his final Cactus outing. He might start again versus the Reds next week before the Brewers begin getting injured pitchers back.
  • KC Third Baseman #11
Maikel Garcia hit his second homer and walked twice Monday against the Brewers.
We haven’t been this excited about a strong first week from Garcia in about a year now. His 428-foot homer today was impressive, with a 108.8 mph exit velocity that made it his hardest-hit ball since 2023. He’s exceeded 103 mph on five of his 11 balls in play this season. Garcia was out of the lineup on Opening Day, but hopefully that won’t happen again anytime soon.
