Dairon Blanco was scratched from Monday’s lineup against the Athletics due to Achilles tightness.
Blanco, 31, is considered day-to-day. The speedy outfielder will take a seat with Joey Wiemer getting the start in the outfield in Blanco’s absence.
  • MIN Second Baseman #47

Edouard Julien is out of the Twins lineup Monday after starting the previous five games.
Julien, who didn’t start any of the Twins’ first four games, went 3-for-14 with a double and a walk in the last five contests. Jose Miranda is getting the nod over Julien today, with Willi Castro sliding from third base to second.
  • STL Center Fielder #11
Victor Scott II is out of the Cardinals lineup for the first time this season Monday.
Michael Siani is finally getting his first start after Scott played center in both games yesterday. Scott is hitting .281/.368/.406 with four steals through nine games.
  • NYM Third Baseman #27
Mark Vientos is back up to fifth, one spot ahead of Jesse Winker, in the Mets lineup Monday against the Marlins.
Vientos hit sixth the previous four games. He’s still struggling mightily, having opened up 4-for-34 with no homers. That he’s moving back up seems like a reaction to Brett Baty taking a seat in favor of Luisangel Acuña. When the left-handed-hitting Baty plays, he bats seventh. However, with all righties at the bottom of the order tonight, the Mets are slotting Vientos back in between lefties Brandon Nimmo and Winker.
  • KC Second Baseman #18
Cavan Biggio is out of the Royals lineup for a third straight game Monday agains the Twins.
Good to see that this odd fascination seems over. Biggio, who is 4-for-14, started five of the Royals’ first seven games, with three of those coming at first base when Vinnie Pasquantino was limited to DH. Biggio did DH on Friday, but the Royals have rotated players in that spot since. Maikel Garcia is actually there tonight.
  • WSH Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams is out of the Nationals lineup Monday against the Dodgers.
No word on anything being wrong with Abrams, so it’s probably just his first day off of the season. The Nationals have Paul DeJong at short and José Tena at third. James Wood has taken on leadoff duties.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #78
Red Sox selected the contract of RHP Robert Stock from Triple-A Worcester.
Welcome back to the majors, Robert Stock. The 35-year-old, who pitched in 10 games for the Red Sox in 2020, had a 4.71 ERA in 72 2/3 innings for four teams from 2018-21. He’s since reinvented himself as a sidearmer, and he excelled in Mexico last year. He opened this season by pitching 8 1/3 scoreless innings with a 12/3 K/BB in two appearances for Worcester. The Red Sox will use him in middle relief for now.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #64
Red Sox optioned RHP Cooper Criswell to Triple-A Worcester.
Criswell got a three-inning save to finish Sunday’s doubleheader, but he’s given up eight runs — four earned — in 4 1/3 innings this season, and he’s struck out zero of the 27 batters he’s faced. He’ll be back at some point.
  • BOS Second Baseman #28
Kristian Campbell is taking a seat Monday after playing both games of Sunday’s doubleheader.
Campbell didn’t have quite as much fun as most of his teammates in going 1-for-7 with two walks in the sweep of the Cardinals, so that might have something to do with him getting a day off. David Hamilton is starting at second tonight.
  • TEX Left Fielder #32
Evan Carter went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, three walks, an RBI, and three runs scored for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
He needed this one. The 22-year-old is just 2-for-19 to start the season in Triple-A with seven strikeouts and six walks in five games. He still has immense upside but there may not be a quick promotion coming here for Carter.
  • NYY Center Fielder #24
Jasson Domínguez is out of the Yankees lineup for the first time this season Monday against the Tigers.
He was due for one, but this is also about the Yankees not wanting to sit the red-hot Trent Grisham. Domínguez is hitting .242/.342/.424 with one homer and one steal through 38 plate appearances. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s possible he’ll spend more time on the bench if Grisham keeps playing out of his mind.
