Marlins placed RHP Eury Pérez on the 60-day injured list.
Pérez is recovering from Tommy John surgery and isn’t expected back until around the All-Star break, so this has no impact on his timeline. The Marlins simply needed a spot on the 40-man roster for newly-claimed reliever Seth Martinez.
  • KC Second Baseman #18

Royals selected the contract of INF/OF Cavan Biggio from Triple-A Omaha.
It’s official. Biggio will open the regular season on Kansas City’s bench. The 29-year-old can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats, but he figures to play a versatile multi-position role for the Royals.
  • MIA Left Fielder #7
Marlins placed OF Jesús Sánchez on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Sánchez was hurt on March 15th and was set to miss four weeks at that time. He will likely need another three weeks before beginning a rehab assignment and trying to work his way back into the Marlins’ lineup. It seems that Griffin Conine will step into the starting lineup in his place.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #55
Phillies placed LHP Ranger Suárez on the 15-day injured list with lower back stiffness.
Suárez has been playing catch as he begins to ramp back up from his back injury, but he has yet to work up to bullpens, so his timeline is unclear at this time. Taijuan Walker will replace him in the rotation but should not be on fantasy radars.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #56
Blue Jays designated RHP Zach Pop, RHP Nick Robertson and RHP Tommy Nance for assignment.
Toronto cleared out three spots on their 40-man roster to make room for outfielders Alan Roden and Myles Straw in addition to veteran reliever Jacob Barnes. No real surprises here, but Pop should garner some interest on the waiver wire as a viable middle relief option.
  • PHI Second Baseman #19
Phillies designated INF Buddy Kennedy for assignment.
Buddy Kennedy had a chance to make the Opening Day roster with Weston Wilson sidelined by an oblique injury, but he hit just .150/.327/.400 this spring, so the Phillies chose to roll with Kody Clemens instead. Since Kennedy was out of minor league options, he needed to be designated for assignment and now can be claimed by any team.
  • PHI Third Baseman #37
Phillies placed OF/INF Weston Wilson on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
The move is retroactive to March 24th, but the team has already said Wilson will be out for at least the next six weeks. Kody Clemens made the Opening Day roster in his place.
  • TOR Center Fielder #5
Blue Jays placed OF Daulton Varsho on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder injury.
Varsho is still recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. He has been able to hit in spring training, but he is still working his way through his throwing program. Alan Roden will take his spot in the Blue Jays’ lineup until Varsho can play the field on a regular basis.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #43
Blue Jays placed RHP Ryan Burr on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
The move is retroactive to March 24th, but Burr has not yet begun throwing. It’s unclear when he will return to the Blue Jays bullpen.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #50
Blue Jays placed RHP Erik Swanson on the 15-day injured list with a right median nerve entrapment.
In non-medical terms, that means Swanson is dealing with nerve irritation in his elbow. He has already begun throwing, and the move is retroactive to March 24th, so he could return in less than two weeks if he continues to recover well.
  • TOR Third Baseman #7
Will Wagner is starting at designated hitter and batting seventh for the Blue Jays on Thursday against the Orioles.
It will be Wagner getting the first shot at the designated hitter role against right-handed pitching. The 26-year-old slashed .305/.337/.451 in 86 MLB plate appearances last year with two home runs. He doesn’t hit for a ton of power, but he does make a lot of contact, so he should sport a high batting average with a chance to drive in a few runs if George Springer and Alejandro Kirk can get on base ahead of him. We expected Davis Schneider to replace Wagner in the lineup when a left-handed starter is on the mound.
