Edward Olivares has signed with the Orix Buffaloes of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Olivares was officially released by the Mets earlier this week to pursue the overseas opportunity after signing a minor league contract last month with New York. The 28-year-old struggled to a .624 OPS with five homers and one steal in 55 games last year for the Pirates. He’ll attempt to turn his career around and rebuild his long-term value over in
  • Relief Pitcher #7

Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Shelby Miller from Triple-A Reno.
Miller pitched extremely well this spring in Cactus League outings to land a spot on Arizona’s season-opening roster. The 34-year-old righty was in camp as a non-roster invitee. He figures to pitch in middle relief situations for the Diamondbacks.
  • ARI Catcher #50
Diamondbacks designated C René Pinto for assignment.
Arizona is going with José Herrera as starter Gabriel Moreno’s caddy to open the regular season. Pinto was claimed off waivers back in January from the Orioles. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as extra organizational catching depth.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #52
Diamondbacks placed LHP Jordan Montgomery on the 60-day injured list.
It’s merely a procedural move as Montgomery is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. The 32-year-old southpaw will likely miss a significant portion of the 2026 season as well. He’ll be a free agent at the conclusion of the year.
  • TEX Center Fielder #16
Rangers selected the contract of OF Kevin Pillar from Triple-A Round Rock.
Pillar has officially made the Rangers’ Opening Day roster in a bench role. The 36-year-old outfielder is a valuable depth piece for a contending roster, but he can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
Corey Seager (calf) took batting practice on Wednesday.
Seager is expected to be ready for Thursday’s season opener against the Red Sox, barring an unforeseen development. The 30-year-old fantasy star was held out of a pair of exhibition contests earlier this week for precautionary reasons due to calf soreness.
  • TEX Third Baseman #6
Josh Jung (neck) is expected to be ready for Thursday’s season opener against the Red Sox.
Jung gave a noticeable thumbs up to media members during Wednesday’s workout at Globe Life Field. The 27-year-old third baseman made a precautionary exit from Monday’s exhibition game with neck stiffness. He should be in the lineup on Thursday afternoon.
  • FA Right Fielder #46
    Rangers released OF Cody Thomas.
Thomas was in Rangers camp earlier this spring, but was shipped to the minor league side back in early March. The 30-year-old outfielder appeared in 29 contests at the big-league level with the Athletics from 2022-2023, hitting .250 (18-for-72) with one homer and two RBI.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #73
Yankees optioned RHP Yerry De Los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
De Los Santos winds up being the final cut from Yankees camp prior to Thursday’s season opener against the Brewers. The 27-year-old righty figures to be back with the big-league club when they need to bring up a fresh bullpen arm.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #36
Yankees placed RHP Clarke Schmidt on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 24, with right rotator cuff tendonitis.
Schmidt will open the regular season with a brief injured-list stint, but fantasy managers should anticipate him being ready to make his season debut by mid-to-late April. The 29-year-old righty has already progressed to facing hitters and should only require a couple minor league rehab starts before heading back to New York.
  • NYY Right Fielder #27
Yankees placed DH/OF Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 24, with right and left elbow epicondylitis.
Stanton remains shut down completely from baseball activities and it’s unclear whether he’ll return at all this year. The 35-year-old slugger has already received three rounds of PRP injections in an effort to address ongoing issues in both of his elbows. Fantasy managers should anticipate a lengthy absence here.
