USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that the Dodgers are looking to trade RHP Ryan Brasier and other “surplus” players.
Nightengale noted that the Dodgers need to clear spots on their 40-man roster for new additions LHP Tanner Scott, RHP Roki Sasaki, and potentially more players that the Dodgers want to add. To do that, they need to trade away some current players, and Brasier with a $4.5 million salary makes some sense. The 37-year-old was solid for the Dodgers last season, posting a 3.54 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 25/5 K/BB ratio in 28 innings of middle relief. There is a chance a team will be interested in acquiring him because he has previous experience working in the late innings as well.

Cardinals recalled RHP Roddery Muñoz from Triple-A Memphis.
Muñoz takes the roster spot of Chris Roycroft after Roycroft was optioned to Memphis on Thursday. Muñoz will give the Cardinals a middle-inning option, but has the stuff to work in high-leverage someday.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #60
White Sox designated RHP Justin Anderson for assignment.
Anderson, 32, will hit the waiver wire after the White Sox added Chase Meidroth to the 40-man and active roster. Anderson could be of interest for a team that needs bullpen help, but is just as likely to go unclaimed and remain with Triple-A Charlotte. He also could elect free agency.
  • CWS Right Fielder #30
White Sox optioned INF/OF Greg Jones to Triple-A Charlotte.
Jones was only with the White Sox for two days. The speedy 27-year-old likely will make a few trips between Charlotte and Chicago in 2025. It’s not too long a flight.
  • CWS Shortstop #85
White Sox selected the contract of INF Chase Meidroth from Triple-A Charlotte.
Meidroth is up as expected after a solid run with Triple-A Charlotte that saw him hit four homers in his first nine games. The 23-year-old offers some potential long-term upside, but fantasy managers shouldn’t rush to add Meidroth to their redraft rosters.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #7
Jorge Polanco (side) will be limited to being the designated hitter for the next week-plus according to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.
The Mariners are dealing with a plethora of injuries, and Polanco’s aching side will keep him from handling the hot corner for a few series. With Polanco unavailable defensively, Dylan Moore will likely get the starts at the hot corner, and Miles Mastrobuoni will likely play second base. Not ideal. Cole Young — one of the top infield prospects in baseball — is in Tacoma, so he could be an option soon.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #51
Twins re-signed RHP Darren McCaughan to a minor league contract.
That was fast. McCaughan rejoins the Twins mere minutes after he elected free agency. The 29-year-old will be a depth piece with St. Paul while he’s in the Minnesota organization.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #51
    Darren McCaughan elected free agency.
McCaughan was outrighted to Triple-A St. Paul after going unclaimed on waivers. He’ll likely be looking at another minor league deal if he stays stateside.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #49
Twins placed RHP Pablo López on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Apr. 9, with a strained right hamstring.
López is hoping to miss only a couple of starts, but we’ll see. The Twins have pushed back the rest of their starters and are using David Festa tonight. They also have the option of inserting Zebby Matthews into the rotation next week.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #58
Twins recalled RHP David Festa from Triple-A St. Paul.
Festa, who had a 5.40 ERA in two starts for the Saints, will make his 2025 debut tonight against the Tigers. He might just get the one turn, as the Twins could opt to turn to Zebby Matthews next time through, but they haven’t tipped their hand just yet.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #49
Braves placed LHP Aaron Bummer on the bereavement list.
Bummer will be absent for this weekend’s series against the Rays. The left-hander has a 5.40 ERA in five appearances out of the Braves bullpen this season.
