Rangers signed C Chad Wallach to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 33-year-old backstop spent the 2024 season in the Angels’ organization, where he slashed .247/.337/.430 with 12 homers and 46 RBI in 335 plate appearances at Triple-A Salt Lake. He’ll provide some quality depth behind the plate for the Rangers.

The New York Daily News’ Gary Phillips reports Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s one-game suspension has been overturned.
Phillips adds that Chisholm and the league agreed to a settlement that rescinded the original one-game suspension. The 27-year-old received the one-game ban, which he appealed, for his actions back on April 17 when he violated the league’s social media policy.
Pirates' Heaney worth a fantasy rotation spot
Eric Samulski pops the hood on Andrew Heaney's impressive start for the Pittsburgh Pirates to explain why he's worth adding to fantasy rosters for spot-starts in good matchups.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #59
Cubs recalled LHP Tom Cosgrove from Triple-A Iowa.
Cosgrove was a mainstay in San Diego’s bullpen from 2023-2024 when he made 72 relief appearances, finishing with a solid 3.95 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 59/25 K/BB ratio across 66 innings during that span. The 28-year-old southpaw joins Chicago’s relief corps ahead of Sunday night’s showdown against the Phillies at Wrigley Field.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #39
Cubs optioned RHP Ethan Roberts to Triple-A Iowa.
Roberts returns to the minors ahead of Sunday night’s matchup against the Phillies after making nine relief appearances for the Cubs since early April.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw (toe, knee) is scheduled to make minor league rehab starts on Tuesday and Sunday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Kershaw isn’t eligible to come off the 60-day injured list until mid-May, so he’ll continue ramping up in the minors for the next couple weeks ahead of his season debut. The 37-year-old southpaw will get a bit of a tougher test this week as he works his way back from offseason toe and knee surgeries with regular rest between rehab outings.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #31
Tyler Glasnow (calf) will start on Sunday against the Pirates.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Glasnow received an IV of fluids on Saturday to hopefully avoid a repeat of the calf cramping issue that led to his early exit from last Sunday’s start against the Rangers. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern for Los Angeles, or fantasy managers, at this juncture.
  • SEA 3rd Baseman #9
Ben Williamson has been scratched from the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Marlins.
No word yet on the reason for the move. It’ll be Miles Mastrobuoni taking over at the hot corner with Leo Rivas at the keystone. The 24-year-old rookie has gotten off to an exceptional start in the big leagues, hitting .310 (13-for-42) with one homer and seven RBI through 11 games. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • SEA 1st Baseman #23
Rowdy Tellez was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a left hand contusion.
Tellez was in Seattle’s original lineup after X-rays came back negative on his left hand after being hit by a pitch on Saturday night. He’ll get some extra time off to rest and recover. It’ll be Donovan Solano taking over at first base during Sunday’s contest.
  • SD Center Fielder #3
Jackson Merrill (hamstring) took batting practice on Sunday at Petco Park.
Merrill, who has been on the shelf since early April recovering frm a right hamstring strain, is scheduled to head to Arizona on Monday to take live batting practice and possibly get into some Rookie-level Arizona Complex League games in the coming days. It looks like he’s on track to return at some point in early May.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #67
Blue Jays re-signed RHP Jacob Barnes to a minor league contract.
Barnes is back in the fold with Toronto as emergency organizational relief depth back at Triple-A Buffalo. The 35-year-old journeyman right-hander elected free agency earlier this week after passing through waivers unclaimed.
  • SD Relief Pitcher
Padres selected the contract of RHP David Morgan from Double-A San Antonio.
Morgan signed with the Padres as an undrafted free agent back in 2022 and gets the call to the big leagues less than three years later ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Braves. The 25-year-old righty has posted a solid 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 19/1 K/BB ratio across 8 2/3 innings (seven appearances) this season for Double-A San Antonio. He’ll likely operate in middle relief for San Diego.
