Rays signed C Danny Jansen to a one-year, $8.5 million contract.
The deal, which was agreed to last Friday, was officially announced on Thursday afternoon. Jansen will earn an $8 million salary for the 2025 season and the contract also includes a $12 million mutual option for the 2026 campaign with a $500,000 buyout. The 29-year-old backstop slashed an underwhelming .205/.309/.349 with nine homers and 24 RBI in 324 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Red Sox in 2024. He makes for an intriguing second catcher option in deeper mixed leagues.

A.J. Minter was removed from Saturday’s game against the Nationals with left triceps tightness.
Minter was clearly bothered walking off the mound after nine pitches in the eighth inning, and now we know why. The left-hander will assuredly need to undergo more testing to determine the severity of the injury and see if there’s any possible structural damage. This would be a significant loss to the Mets’ bullpen if Minter was to miss time.
Pirates' Heaney worth a fantasy rotation spot
Eric Samulski pops the hood on Andrew Heaney's impressive start for the Pittsburgh Pirates to explain why he's worth adding to fantasy rosters for spot-starts in good matchups.
  • NYM Catcher #4
Francisco Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead the Mets to a 2-0 win over the Nationals on Saturday.
Playing his second game of the season after missing time with a hamate bone fracture, Alvarez delivered a two-run blast off Brad Lord in the second inning to drive in the only two runs of the game. The 23-year-old backstop’s return provides a spark for a team that’s already off to a great start at 19-8. His power potential warrants interest in most one-catcher formats at least 12 teams and deeper.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Edwin Díaz struck out three batters in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save against the Nationals on Saturday.
Díaz bounced back nicely after leaving Wednesday’s game with a hip cramp. He took over in the ninth with a two-run lead and worked around a walk, striking out the side for his seventh save of the season. The 31-year-old right-hander has struck out multiple batters in each of his last six outings.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #35
Clay Holmes tossed five scoreless innings with two strikeouts in a win over the Nationals on Saturday.
Holmes had faced just two batters, recording an out and giving up a base hit before the game was delayed by rain for nearly an hour. He came back out scattered just four total hits over five scoreless innings while striking out two. Holmes would end his day at just 70 pitches, likely due to the extended delay. The 32-year-old right-hander will take a 2.64 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 36/13 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings into a start against the Diamondbacks in New York on Thursday.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #61
Brad Lord allowed two runs with three strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Mets on Saturday.
Lord tossed a scoreless first inning and sat through a one-hour rain delay before coming back out for the second. Francisco Alvarez would take him deep for a two-run homer as play resumed to put the Mets on the board. Lord would toss two more scoreless frames before his day was done. He struck out three. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 4.67 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, and a 13/9 K/BB ratio into a road start against the Phillies on Thursday.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #53
Pirates optioned RHP Mike Burrows to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Burrows was only with the Pirates for a few days. He’ll head back to Triple-A now that Colin Holderman (knee) is off the 15-day injured list.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #35
Pirates activated RHP Colin Holderman off the 15-day injured list.
Holderman missed right around three weeks with his sprained right knee. The 29-year-old should return to being a mid-to-late inning option for the Pittsburgh bullpen.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #33
A.J. Minter left Saturday’s game against the Nationals with an apparent injury.
Minter walked off the mound after throwing nine pitches. The Mets will assuredly update his status before Sunday’s game against the Nationals, but this would be a significant loss for the Mets’ bullpen if Minter was to miss time.
  • PHI Right Fielder #17
Max Kepler went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI to power the Phillies to a 10-4 win over the Cubs on Saturday.
Kepler knocked a base hit in the second inning, then put the Phillies on the board with a single in the fourth to drive in a run. He later extended the team lead with a solo homer off Ethan Roberts in the seventh inning. The 32-year-old outfielder is off to a strong start with his new team, hitting .267/.357/.407 with two homers and 12 runs scored across 98 plate appearances.
  • CHC Left Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with three RBI against the Phillies on Saturday.
Suzuki was in the lineup on Saturday, batting second as the designated hitter. He drove in three of the team’s four runs on the day, starting with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning. He later drove in a run with his second base hit in the seventh. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing .292/.361/.552 with six homers and 23 RBI across 108 plate appearances.
