Mets signed LHP Genesis Cabrera to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cabrera seemed like a candidate for a major league deal, so the Mets must have been pretty aggressive with their minor league offer to get him to take one this early. The 28-year-old was let go by the Blue Jays earlier this month after posting a 3.59 ERA in 62 2/3 innings last season. He has a career 3.89 ERA in 275 2/3 innings, most of them coming with the Cardinals.

Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are trading infielder Alan Trejo to the Rockies.
The move won’t become official until Sunday. Trejo will then be activated for the series finale against the Reds. Trejo will be a depth option for Colorado, and even while playing his home games in Coors Field, there’s no reason to consider him in fantasy formats.
Pirates' Heaney worth a fantasy rotation spot
Eric Samulski pops the hood on Andrew Heaney's impressive start for the Pittsburgh Pirates to explain why he's worth adding to fantasy rosters for spot-starts in good matchups.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #52
Michael Wacha pitched four-hit ball for six innings and combined with three relievers on a 2-0 shutout of the Astros on Saturday.
The Royals have won six in a row to get back to .500 at 14-14. It’s the first win for Wacha, who had been 0-3 in spite of a 4.15 ERA. He completed six innings and recorded six strikeouts for the first time in 2025. Wacha figures to pitch in Baltimore next time out.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #53
Carlos Estévez recorded his seventh save with a perfect ninth against the Astros on Saturday.
Estévez was given Friday off, allowing Lucas Erceg to pick up a save, but he was back out there tonight for the fifth time in eight days. If the Royals don’t want to him tomorrow, Erceg will be available for a save chance.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #59
Framber Valdez took a complete-game loss after allowing two runs and three hits over eight innings Saturday against the Royals.
It’s just the third complete game by a pitcher this season and first that wasn’t a shutout victory (Nathan Eovaldi and Michael King got those). Valdez now has eight career complete games, three of which have been shutouts. That puts him tied for seventh in compete games among active pitchers, and he might rate first or second (Sandy Alcantara has 12) in a few years once the old guard retires. He’ll face the White Sox next, making No. 9 a possibility.
  • KC 1st Baseman #9
Vinnie Pasquantino hit his third homer Saturday off the Astros’ Framber Valdez.
The Royals have taken to dropping Pasquantino in the lineup against lefties, so he was batting seventh tonight. The homer was his sixth in 282 career plate appearances against southpaws. He has practically the same average and OBP against lefties and righties in his career, but he doesn’t typically show as much pop versus lefties.
  • DET Center Fielder #31
Riley Greene hit a three-run homer and walked as the Tigers defeated the Orioles 6-2 to complete a doubleheader sweep Saturday.
Greene’s contributions in the first game were mostly on defense, as he made a pair of fine catches in left. In the second game, he opened the Tigers’ scoring with his homer off Charlie Morton in the third. It was his first long ball since Apr. 4, when he hit his third in seven games to open the year, and it gave him his first three-RBI day of 2025.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #54
Kieder Montero held the Orioles to one run over 4 1/3 innings while starting the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Two outs shy of a win, but Montero did his job as the Tigers’ 27th man today. He’ll return to Triple-A possessing a 5.93 ERA in his three spot starts for the Tigers this season.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #50
Pitching behind Keegan Akin, Charlie Morton gave up three runs and walked five in 3 2/3 innings to take a loss Saturday against the Tigers.
It was Morton’s first relief appearance since his rookie season in 2008. Somewhat surprisingly, the Orioles had him enter mid-inning with two outs in the second. He finished that without incident, but he gave up a walk, a single and a three-run homer in the third. He worked scoreless fourth and fifth innings afterwards and then was lifted with one on and one out in the sixth. The outing actually lowered his ERA to 10.36. Morton will probably either start or again work as a bulk guy Friday against the Royals.
  • BAL 1st Baseman #6
Ryan Mountcastle, who was held out of the lineup the previous three times the Orioles faced righties, went 0-for-4 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Tigers.
Even though the changes at Camden Yards figured to help him, Mountcastle is again looking like someone in need of a trade, It might be best for everyone, since it could open room for Coby Mayo once Mayo gets hot in Triple-A. Mountcastle should be a perfectly fine major league regular, but the Orioles believe they have options just as good or better than him versus righties.
  • BOS Center Fielder #16
Jarren Duran went 3-for-5 with a triple and scored three runs, one on a straight steal of home, as the Red Sox bested the Guardians 7-3 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Duran’s straight steal of home was Boston’s first since Jacoby Ellsbury did it on the same date in 2009. He’s 8-for-10 stealing bases this season, even as he’s been a disappointment in the other categories to date.
