Mike Rodriguez reported that the Red Sox have expressed an interest in RHP Dany Jiménez.
Jiménez was recently non-tendered by the Athletics after posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and 25/19 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings in 2024. However, the 30-year-old had been good for the two seasons prior to that and still holds a 3.93 ERA across 84 2/3 MLB innings. Of course, that comes with a 1.44 WHIP and 21.4 percent strikeout rate. He might have to settle for a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Dane Myers went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two runs scored, and the game-winning RBI to lead the Marlins to a 5-4 win over the Pirates in extra-innings on Saturday.
Myers started the game with a pair of doubles and a run scored before going to extra-inning against the Pirates. He started the tenth as the runner on second and scored the tying run to extend the game. The 29-year-old outfielder delivered in the 12th, knocking a deep hit to right field to walk it off.
  • PIT Outfielder #15
Oniel Cruz went 0-for-2 with four walks, two steals, and a run scored against the Marlins on Saturday.
Cruz showed off an incredible eye at the plate on Saturday, drawing four walks on the day. He stole second base in the sixth and scored on a single by Joey Bart before adding a second stolen base in the seventh. The 26-year-old outfielder has been aggressive on the basepaths to start the season, stealing four bases through three games.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo allowed one run with four strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday.
The Pirates got a run across on Bellozo in the first inning on a single, walk, and a double. Bellozo tossed two more clean frames and stranded two runners in the fourth before he was relieved with one out in the fifth. The 25-year-old right-hander struck out four and walked two, throwing 46-of-71 pitches for strikes and generating eight whiffs. Bellozo is best left on the waiver wire when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Friday.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #6
Bailey Falter held the Marlins to two runs with four strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision on Saturday.
Falter got through four scoreless frames before the Marlins brought a run in to score on a double and a sacrifice fly in the fifth. A pair of doubles tied the game in the sixth to saddle Falter with a no-decision despite the quality start. He struck out four, tossing 56-of-87 pitches for strikes and generating nine whiffs. The 27-year-old left-hander lines up for a start against the Yankees in Pittsburgh on Friday.
  • KC Third Baseman #11
Maikel Garcia went 2-for-4 and hit a game-tying homer in the seventh as the Royals edged the Guardians 4-3 on Saturday.
It was surprising and disappointing to see Garcia left out of Thursday’s lineup, though it was definitely partly a function of Vinnie Pasquantino being limited to DH duties. Jonathan India probably would have DH’d then, but the Royals used him at third and Cavan Biggio at first. India was shifted to left field today, opening up third base, and Garcia responded with a 397-foot homer, as well as a 107-mph single that was the hardest-hit ball of the game. With his steal potential, Garcia should offer mixed-league value, as long as the Royals keep him in the lineup.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #67
Seth Lugo walked three and allowed three runs over five innings Saturday against the Guardians.
Lugo, the 2024 AL Cy Young runner-up, struggled with his control early, but two caught stealings really helped his cause, and he got better as the game went along. He’s slated to make his second start Friday against the Orioles
  • KC Relief Pitcher #53
Carlos Estévez pitched a hitless ninth against the Guardians for his first save Saturday.
Estévez’s velocity was down this spring after he missed time with back tightness and still down in his season debut, but it started to come back today, as he averaged 95.8 mph with his fastball. That’s up from 94.2 mph on Thursday and down just one mph from his 2024 average.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #32
Gavin Williams wasn’t involved in the decision against the Royals after allowing two runs in five innings Saturday.
He left with a one-run lead, but that was blown by Paul Sewald in the seventh. Williams topped out at 99.5 mph today, but he settled for just six missed swings and two strikeouts. That’s a bit of a letdown from a guy who struck out 26 in 17 1/3 innings this spring. Williams will face the Angels next.
  • TEX Shortstop #8
Josh Smith left Saturday’s game against the Red Sox with an apparent injury.
Smith banged against the wall while trying to make a play against the outfield. The 27-year-old was clearly in pain, and he was replaced by Ezequiel Duran. The 27-year-old should have an update on his status before the end of Saturday’s contest. The Rangers now down to their third-string third baseman, as Josh Jung is unavailable due to neck spasms.
  • LAD Second Baseman #25
Tommy Edman is now hitting eighth against the Tigers on Saturday.
In the original lineup, Edman was slated to hit second after Shohei Ohtani. Instead, it’ll be Teoscar Hernandez hitting second between Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. Carry on.
