Michael Wacha allowed two runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings Monday in a win over the Rangers.
After going nearly six weeks without a victory, Wacha has four in four starts to improve to 8-9 with a 3.34 ERA. His strikeout rate, which was 21.7% from 2021-24, is down to 17.7% this year, without any improvement in his groundball or walk rates. Still, hardly anyone is hitting him hard, with his home run rate standing at just less than two-thirds of what it was the previous four years. He’ll face the Tigers this weekend.
