The Reds get a major upgrade to their rotation and really didn’t have to give up a whole lot to do so, dealing from their surplus on infielders and tacking on Joey Wiemer to get the deal finished. Singer, 28, blossomed into a workhorse for the Royals in 2024, making all 32 of his starts and posting a 3.71 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 170/54 K/BB ratio across 179 2/3 innings. He has struggled with the home run ball at times — serving up 20 or more long balls in each of the past two seasons — and that issue could be exacerbated with the move to a hitter-friendly ballpark in Cincinnati. Make no mistake though, this is a great move for the Reds.

The Brewers want to keep an eye on his progress before making a decision on whether Frelick will need a trip to the injured list. The 25-year-old suffered the strain during Sunday’s game against the Nationals. There’s a good chance he won’t be in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Dodgers, but his long-term status is still very much up in the air.

Corbin will get the nod to open the second half of the 2025 campaign, and he’ll be followed by Kumar Rocker on Saturday with Nathan Eovaldi starting Sunday. Jacob deGrom will likely start Monday, but that hasn’t been announced as of yet. Corbin did a solid job in the first half, but doesn’t offer a ton of fantasy upside; especially against a quality lineup like the Tigers.

Rodriguez was then optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. He’s on the 40-man roster, so it’s possible the 27-year-old helps the Baltimore bullpen as a multi-inning option before 2025 comes to a close.

Frazier is officially back with the Royals after playing for the club last season. The 33-year-old batted .255/.318/.336 with three homers, 21 RBI and seven steals across 78 games with the Pirates. He figures to serve as a left-handed bat off the bench while seeing playing time across multiple positions.

This is just a small step, but a nice one for the veteran, who was placed on the IL on June 21st with a fractured ribcage. At the time of the injury, Sale said that he expected to pitch at some point in August, so beginning to throw, even lightly, now is a good sign. He’s not eligible to be activated off the 60-day IL until August 19th, so there is plenty of time to see how he feels as he ramps up and whether or not the Braves can remain in the playoff hunt.

This is a surprisingly solid return for two months of Adam Frazier. Devanney was putting up good numbers at Triple-A, hitting .272/.366/.565 with 18 home runs, 55 RBI, and three steals in 69 games. He also had a solid 70/34 K/BB ratio, which is more than acceptable for a hitter with a 48 percent hard-hit rate and 90.4 mph average exit velocity. The 28-year-old is primarily a shortstop, but has also played third base, second base, and left field this season. It remains to be seen if the Pirates will call him up immediately and where they will play him, but both starting shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and starting third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes have had their names come up in trade rumors.

And trade season is officially underway with Frazier being dealt for INF prospect Cam Devanney. Frazier had started only one game for the Pirates in July and was used as a pinch hitter in five more, so his role was already being reduced. The veteran was 19-for-70 (.271) from June 1 on with one home run, eight runs scored and seven RBI while playing mainly outfield for the Pirates. This could open up more opportunities in the outfield for Alexander Canario or perhaps give the Pirates room to call Nick Yorke up from Triple-A, unless Devanney is brought up right away. Frazier will likely be a left-handed bat off the bench for the Royals and could potentially be a bad sign for the health of Michael Massey, who was hit by a pitch in the hand during his rehab assignment last week.

Eldridge was sidelined at the end of June with a hamstring strain and missed about three weeks before getting back into game action. He’s 2-for-6 in two games in the Complex League with one RBI and one run scored. He should return to the Triple-A lineup once the All-Star break is over.

The Blue Jays’ former top prospect had Tommy John surgery in August of last year, so it’s nice to see him already getting on the mound in a game setting. He allowed one hit and struck out one while facing three batters on Tuesday. The Blue Jays will be cautious with their 22-year-old prospect and take his rehab slowly, but there’s a good chance Tiedemann will pitch in some Double-A or Triple-A games before the end of the 2025 season.

Treinen followed Blake Snell in this game and allowed a home run to Guardians 3B prospect Dauri Fernandez. Other than that, his day was strong with one strikeout and good velocity on his fastball. He’s likely to return to the Dodgers’ bullpen right after the All-Star break.
