Tarik Skubal won the American League Cy Young Award.
Skubal celebrates his 28th birthday with his first career Cy Young Award, receiving all 30 first place votes in balloting, following a transcendent 2024 campaign where he helped lead Detroit back to the postseason with an American League-leading 2.39 ERA (2.39) and 228 strikeouts across 192 innings (31 starts). He’ll be the first starting pitcher off the board next spring in all fantasy drafts. Royals veteran Seth Lugo finished second and Guardians stopper Emmanuel Clase came in third.

Reds designated C Austyn Winns for assignment.
Wynns is booted from the roster to make room for Christian Encarnacion-Strand. The 34-year-old will hit the waiver wire, but there’s a pretty strong chance he’ll report back to Triple-A Louisville to provide depth behind the plate.
Bet on Soto, Mets to win over 95.5 games this year
Brad Thomas and Vaughn Dalzell debate how many games the Mets will win this season, detailing why New York is in "perfect shape" with an elite pitching staff, Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso leading the way.
  • Reds activated INF Christian Encarnacion-Strand off the 10-day injured list.
Encarnacion-Strand is back after after missing six weeks with lower back inflammation. The 25-year-old was struggling prior to the injury, but possesses tremendous power in his right-handed bat and plays in a friendly home ballpark to help that play up. He’s a high-risk, high-reward option in redraft leagues.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #70
Dodgers recalled RHP Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Wrobleski gets the call to make the start Friday against the Cardinals. The right-hander will likely have a short leash, and his lack of consistent success at the highest level would make him a very risky streaming option for Friday’s tilt.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #96
Dodgers optioned RHP Landon Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Knack gets booted from the active roster after struggling in his start against the Mets on Thursday with 3 1/3 innings of four-run baseball. He likely will be back with the Dodgers at some point, but for now, Justin Wrobleski gets the call with Wrobleski starting Friday’s game against the Cardinals.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #74
White Sox designated RHP Ryan Cusick for assignment.
Well, that was quick. Cusick was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from the Tigers on Wednesday, and he’s now back on the wire two days later. The former first-round pick could get claimed for third time in two weeks, but there’s a strong possibility he’ll be reporting back to Triple-A Charlotte as well.
  • CWS Catcher #26
White Sox optioned C Korey Lee to Triple-A Charlotte.
Lee is sent down to make room for Kyle Teel on the active roster. The 26-year-old will be organizational depth for Chicago in the minors, but it’s not hard to see a team having interest in Lee as a backup backstop if the White Sox were to put him on the market.
  • CWS Catcher #89
White Sox selected the contract of C Kyle Teel from Triple-A Charlotte.
Teel is widely considered one of the best catching prospects in baseball, and he was hitting .295 with eight homers over 183 at-bats with Charlotte in the International League. He should split time with fellow former top prospect Edgar Quero behind the plate, and should see some designated hitter duties as well. Teel is absolutely worthy of a roster look; particularly in two-catcher leagues.
  • MIA Left Fielder #28
Kyle Stowers is out of the lineup for the Marlins on Friday due to a hand issue.
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough told reporters that the hand issue for Stowers is “lingering” and it explains why he’s out of the lineup for a second straight day. McCullough did say that Stowers would be available off the bench, so this doesn’t appear to be a long-term setback.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #82
Twins recalled RHP Travis Adams from Triple-A St. Paul.
Adams gives the Twins a reliever capable of throwing multiple innings while he’s with the team. He’ll take the place of Kody Thunderburk, who was optioned to St. Paul in the corresponding transaction.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #55
Twins optioned LHP Kody Funderburk to Triple-A St. Paul.
Funderburk struggled in his latest MLB stint while allowing eight runs in as many innings with a 4/4 K/BB ratio. He heads to the minors with Travis Adams getting the call to replace Funderburk on the roster.
