Rosario was the Cubs’ sixth-round pick in 2023, and spent last year with Low-A Myrtle Beach. He performed decently in 2024 with a .767 OPS, 16 homers and 20 stolen bases. He’s a long-term fantasy play, but one with a smidgen of intrigue because of some power/speed potential.

Merrill singled in a run in the fourth, and a fielder’s choice that scored a run in the sixth gave San Diego a 3-2 lead and ultimately a win. The 22-year-old has driven in 21 runs in 2025 in just 39 games, and he’s slashing a healthy .331/.370/.525 in his sophomore campaign.

Suarez came in to pitch in the eighth after Jason Adam walked a pair, and the 34-year-old was able to clean up that mess and fired a clean nothing inning. He now has 18 saves, and his 2.22 ERA is not indicative of how good he’s been for the overwhelming majority of 2025. Not that a 2.22 ERA is terrible, of course. He’s just been better than that mark suggests.

Keller struck out just one batter in his six innings of work, and he was only able to generate three swings and misses over 78 pitches. He also only allowed three hits, however, and he pitched well enough for a win. Well enough for a team that doesn’t have the Pirates’ offense, anyway. Keller’s ERA is now a respectable 3.73, but it comes with a 1-7 record because, well, Pittsburgh. Keller will take on the Astros on Thursday.

Pivetta generated nine swings and misses among his 81 pitches while landing 54 of them for strikes. He blanked the Pirates for five innings, but gave up a pair in his final frame. Still, a very solid outing for the 32-year-old that actually sees his ERA raise ever-so-slightly to 2.74 on the campaign. Pivetta will look to keep up his good work over the first two months of the season in his first start of June against the Giants in San Francisco.

Dingler jumped on a first-pitch fastball from Seth Lugo in the second inning and crushed a 394-foot (105.6 mph EV) two-run shot that increased the Tigers’ early lead to 4-1. The 26-year-old backstop also helped to extend the lead with a run-scoring single in the eighth inning. With his three-hit attack, Dingler is now slashing a robust .303/.329/.465 with five homers and 22 RBI on the season.

Torkelson came through with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 5-3. He tacked on a valuable insurance run in the eighth with a 436-foot (108.0) bomb to center field off of Andrew Hoffmann that made it a 6-4 ballgame. He’s now slashing .242/.352/.525 with 14 homers and 42 RBI in what has been a resurgent season for the 25-year-old slugger.

Vest came on with a three-run lead after Tommy Kahnle worked a scoreless eighth inning. He allowed a two-out single to Maikel Garcia who advanced to second base on defensive indifference and then an RBI single to Drew Waters that pulled the Royals to within two runs. That would be as close as they would get though as West got Mark Canha on a ground ball to second base to end it. He now boasts a 2.03 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 29/9 K/BB ratio over 27 innings on the season to go with eight saves and four victories.

The 28-year-old right-hander walked two and struck out four on the evening. He served up a long solo homer to Bobby Witt Jr. in the opening inning, then the Royals added another pair of runs against him in the third inning on a two-run single off the bat of Drew Waters. Mize got eight whiffs on 79 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 30 percent. On the season, he sports a 6-1 record, 2.82 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 45/12 K/BB ratio across 51 innings through his first nine starts. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he squares off against the White Sox in Chicago on Wednesday.

The Tigers had just struck for two runs in the top half of the inning when Witt answered right back with his titanic 442-foot (112.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Casey Mize into the fountain in left center. That would be Witt’s only hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 24-year-old superstar is now slashing .288/.346/.487 with six homers, 31 RBI and 20 stolen bases.

The right-hander also walked a pair of batters in the ballgame while striking out three. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Riley Greene crushing a two-run shot in the opening inning and Dillon Dingler adding a two-run blast in the second. Lugo got just three whiffs on 69 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 45/17 K/BB ratio (60 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
