Cubs acquired RHP Eli Morgan from the Guardians for OF prospect Alfonsin Rosario.
The deal’s now official. Morgan was a strong part of the loaded Cleveland bullpen with a 1.93 ERA and 34/11 K/BB over 32 appearances, and he’ll be a high-leverage arm for the Cubs to open the 2025 campaign.

Aaron Judge hit his 18th homer and walked Saturday in the Yankees’ 13-1 rout of the Rockies.
Judge set the tone with his first-inning homer, though the Yankees didn’t score again until busting out with 10 in the fifth. Judge is now back alone in first in the majors in homers, one ahead of Shohei Ohtani, Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #54
Max Fried pitched 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball Saturday in a victory over the Rockies.
Fried had been stuck at 6-0 for three weeks now, even though he allowed a total of four runs over 18 innings in his previous three starts. This finally makes him 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA. He is 2-0 with a 2.48 ERA lifetime at Coors Field. Expectations are that he’ll pitch in L.A. against the Dodgers next time out.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #21
Kyle Freeland was tagged for eight runs — four earned — in 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Yankees.
All but one of those runs came as part of a 10-run fifth inning. Freeland entered 0-6 with a 5.68 ERA, but he at least had a 41/10 K/BB. Today, he struck out three and walked a season-high three. He’s 0-7 now, and he’s lined up to face the Mets next time out.
  • NYY 1st Baseman #48
Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, a steal and two runs scored Saturday against the Rockies.
Goldschmidt’s hardest-hit ball of the day, a 108.5-mph grounder in the first, produced his lone out. It’s his seventh three-hit game of the year, and he’s hitting a stunning .344. It’s been 10 years since he hit a career-best .321 in 2015.
  • COL 2nd Baseman #1
Adael Amador went 0-for-3 against the Yankees on Saturday, lowering his average to .146.
Amador also appeared to throw his glove at a Paul Goldschmidt liner over his head, which might have gotten him a little talking to in the dugout. The 22-year-old Amador figures to return to Triple-A once Thairo Estrada’s rehab assignment is complete.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #8
Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Houston’s 2-1 win against the Mariners on Saturday.
Both teams had trouble scoring in Saturday’s duel between Bryan Woo and Framber Valdez. Walker wasn’t credited with an RBI due to a throwing error, but his base hit in the first inning brought Houston’s first run in to score before he crossed the plate on an error for the team’s second run. Walker later added a single in the third for his second hit. The 34-year-old first baseman is hitting .202/.268/.332 with five homers and 20 RBI across 213 plate appearances.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #71
Josh Hader struck out the side in a scoreless inning to earn the save against the Mariners on Saturday.
Hader was summoned in the ninth to close out the game with a one-run lead against the Mariners. He worked around one hit, striking out the side to slam the door on Seattle for his 13th save of the season. The 31-year-old left-hander has posted a 1.57 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and a 32/5 K/BB ratio across 23 innings.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #59
Framber Valdez allowed one run with five strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Mariners on Saturday.
After a clean first inning, a triple and a groundout put the Mariners on the board with a run in the second. That would be all Seattle to do against Valdez. He settled in for four more scoreless frames, scattering four hits and four walks with five strikeouts. The 31-year-old southpaw will take a 3.39 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 64/23 K/BB ratio across 69 innings into a start against the Rays in Houston on Friday.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #22
Bryan Woo allowed two runs, zero earned, with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Astros on Saturday.
Two hits and an error brought two unearned runs in against Woo in the first inning. He recovered nicely, holding the Astros scoreless through five additional innings. He gave up nine hits while walking zero batters and collecting five strikeouts. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 2.40 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a 60/8 K/BB ratio across 63 2/3 innings. Woo will take on Twins in Minnesota on Friday.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Ronald Acuña Jr. went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Atlanta’s 7-1 win over the Padres on Saturday.
Two games, two homers for Acuña in his return. He took Alek Jacob deep for a two-run blast in the sixth inning, a 111 mph scorcher to left center field. It’s always nice when the best players are on the field, and the 27-year-old outfielder is out to remind us that’s exactly what he is.
