Marlins selected the contract of INF Deyvison De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville.
De Los Santos was a Rule 5 Draft pick last year by the Guardians, but he didn’t make the team and was returned to Arizona. He went on to have a strong campaign in the minors with 40 homers, and was traded to Miami for AJ Puk. De Los Santos has flaws, but has enough offensive upside to have some fantasy relevance someday. He could make his debut in 2025.

Cristopher Sánchez pitched his third career complete game and matched his career high with 12 strikeouts in the Phillies’ 4-1 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
The controversy over Sánchez not being added to the NL All-Star team — he was pitching the Sunday before the game and wouldn’t have been used anyway — never should have arisen, because he very obviously should have been on the club in the first place. This makes six straight starts in which he’s allowed exactly one run, and he’s pitched at least seven innings in five of those games (six in the other). He’s 9-2, he’s eighth in the majors with a 2.40 ERA and he’s 10th with 134 strikeouts. His total of eight homers surrendered is also tied for the fifth lowest mark among ERA-title qualifiers.
Dodgers relievers to add following Scott's injury
With the Dodgers "all but a lock" to add a reliever before the trade deadline following Tanner Scott's injury, Eric Samulski assesses which arms could be in line for precious save opportunities.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #80
Richard Fitts gave up four runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Phillies.
Fitts struck out four and walked none, but he gave up homers to Max Kepler and Kyle Schwarber. Even a reasonably good outing from Fitts wouldn’t have done much for the Red Sox with the way they looked against Cristopher Sánchez tonight. Fitts figures to make another start Monday against the Twins, but if the Red Sox are serious about contending, there’s a good chance he’ll be supplanted by a trade deadline pickup after that.
  • PHI Right Fielder #17
Max Kepler homered and walked against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Kepler’s homer against Richard Fitts checked in at 107.7 mph. He’s batting just .207/.305/.372, but his exit velocity numbers are all better than his career marks, and it’d be reasonable to expect some improvement over the final two months.
  • BOS Center Fielder #19
Roman Anthony struck out all four times up against Cristopher Sánchez in Tuesday’s loss to the Phillies.
That’s eight strikeouts in two days for Anthony, though at least his one ball in play in the series against the Phillies was a double. Also, he’s faced two of the NL’s best pitchers (Zack Wheeler on Monday), and he’s hardly looked overmatched on the whole. His current 26.7% strikeout rate is probably about what should have been expected from his first month and a half in the majors.
  • BAL Right Fielder #9
Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters Tyler O’Neill was unavailable on Tuesday due to general soreness.
It certainly explains why the Orioles summoned outfielder Dylan Carlson from Triple-A Norfolk prior to Tuesday’s game against Cleveland. Mansolino added that they’re going go give the veteran corner outfielder a couple extra days off, but he should be ready to return to the lineup at some point later this week.
  • WSH 1st Baseman #19
Josh Bell hit his 13th homer and walked Tuesday in the Nationals’ 6-1 victory over the Reds.
For the second time this season, Bell has finished a game with a .700 OPS. He’s at .707 right now after homering in back-to-back games. He previously topped out at .702 after homering against the Marlins on Apr. 11. From there, he dipped all of the way to .497 on May 9 before rebounding in late May. He merely treaded water in June, but he’s up .358/.452/.566 in 16 games this month, and the Nationals might get a little something for him at the deadline if this keeps up. He definitely knows the drill, as he was traded at the deadline each of the last three years (from the Nationals to the Padres in the Juan Soto deal in 2022, from the Guardians to the Marlins in a salary dump in 2023 and from the Marlins to the Diamondbacks last year).
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #61
Brad Lord pitched four innings of one-run ball Tuesday against the Reds in his return to the rotation.
Lord threw 50 pitches in his first start since May 6. The Nationals pulled him out of the pen as Trevor Williams’ replacement after 26 appearances in which he posted a 2.70 ERA in 36 2/3 innings. He could have been in line to close after Kyle Finnegan was traded, but he figures to be more helpful to the Nationals as a starter. He’ll probably make his next start Monday in Houston.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #26
Although he struck out 10, Chase Burns gave up six runs — five earned — in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Nationals.
After three scoreless innings, Burns allowed one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth. Burns also struck out 10 last time out. 12 of his 17 whiffs tonight came on his slider, which he threw 39 times. His ERA stands at 6.65 through five turns, but much of that was the product of one bad outing. He’s fanned 35 and walked 11 in 21 2/3 innings. It’s likely that he’ll face the Dodgers next.
  • CIN 2nd Baseman #2
Gavin Lux went 4-for-4 and knocked in the Reds’ only run Tuesday against the Nationals.
It’s Lux’s third career four-hit game, two of which have come this season. His lack of power has been disappointing, particularly given his new home ballpark, but his .275/.360/.383 line is pretty solid, and it helps the Reds that he’s done his best work with men on; his OPS is about 200 points higher with runners on than with the bases empty.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #52
    Tigers released RHP Brendan White.
White hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2023 season when he made 33 appearances for Detroit. The 26-year-old righty has been cut loose after struggling to an inflated 7.24 ERA across 32 1/3 innings (27 appearances) this season for Triple-A Toledo.
