Rays selected the contract of LHP Ian Seymour from Triple-A Durham.
Seymour made some late-season noise in the upper minors, finishing the 2024 campaign with a sparkling 2.35 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 162/41 K/BB ratio across 145 1/3 innings (27 starts) between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham. The 25-year-old southpaw, who was a second-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, has been officially added to Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster ahead of this week’s reserve list deadline to shield him from selection in next month’s Rule 5 Draft. It wouldn’t be a shock if he pushed in spring training for a spot in the Rays’ season-opening pitching mix.

Christian Yelich finished 3-for-4 and hit his 14th homer in the Brewers’ 3-2 defeat of the Cardinals on Sunday.
Yelich had totaled two singles in 11 at-bats since returning Thursday from a bruised right wrist suffered on a HBP, but he hit the ball hard today, with his homer leaving the bat at 108.2 mph and his double checking in at 102.3. The double was just his sixth in 288 plate appearances this season.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.

Quinn Priester limited the Cardinals to one run over six innings in a victory Sunday.
Priester has been pitching for his rotation spot every time he’s taken the mound lately, but with wins in his last four appearances and Aaron Civale gone to Chicago, the matter seems to be settled for now. He’s allowed just six runs over 29 innings in his last five appearances, three of which were starts (the other two saw him enter in the fourth after DL Hall worked the first three innings). His peripherals still aren’t great, but they’re getting better; he’s fanned 10 and walked none in his last two starts after amassing a 36/26 K/BB in his first 55 2/3 innings. Priester will face the Twins next weekend.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #38
Tylor Megill struck out three in a row after two singles to start the ninth and earned his 15th save Sunday against the Cardinals.
The second single was a bunt by Nolan Gorman, putting the tying run on second base and the go-ahead run on first. Megill, though, fanned Jordan Walker, Victor Scott II and Masyn Winn afterwards. It’s the first time since Apr. 2 that he’s struck out three in an inning.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #39
Miles Mikolas threw six innings and allowed two runs against the Brewers on Sunday.
Mikolas notched seven strikeouts, topping his previous season high by one, but he was handed the loss after leaving with the Cardinals down 2-1. He’ll take a 4-4 record and a 4.35 ERA into his next start against the Reds.
  • STL Catcher #48
Starting at catcher, Iván Herrera went 2-for-3 and hit his eighth homer Sunday against the Brewers.
It’s kind of eerie how all of Herrera’s best offensive games come when he’s catching. His previous homer came Monday, which was also the last game he had caught. In between, he was limited to four singles in 20 at-bats as a DH. He’s currently batting .377 with six homers in 12 games as a catcher, compared to .284 with two homers in 27 games as a DH.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #20
Ezequiel Duran went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a walk on Sunday afternoon, leading the Rangers to a 2-1 victory over the visiting White Sox.
Duran got the scoring started in the ballgame as he roped a two-out RBI double into right field off of Aaron Civale in the third inning. The versatile 26-year-old also drew a walk in the sixth inning and doubled with two outs in the eighth, but the Rangers were unable to cash him in either time. He has struggled in his limited action overall with the Rangers this season, going 6-for-40 (.150) with zero homers, two RBI and a 13/1 K/BB ratio.
  • TEX 2nd Baseman #2
Marcus Semien went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Rangers eked out a one-run victory over the visiting White Sox.
Semien drove in a run with a sacrifice fly off of Aaron Civale in the fifth inning that would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. He also doubled with two outs in the seventh inning but was left stranded there. He has picked up the pace offensively in recent weeks, but is still slashing a miserable .224/.305/.336 overall on the season with seven homers, 30 RBI and six stolen bases.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #77
Luke Jackson slammed the door on the White Sox on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a one-run advantage.
The 33-year-old right-hander wasn’t messing around in this one, getting Ryan Noda on a bouncer to first base, Brooks Baldwin on a swinging third strike and Josh Rojas on a fly ball to center to end it. Jackson has fallen in the pecking order for saves in the Rangers’ bullpen, but he has still made good on nine of his first 11 chances on the season and has proven to be a capable option there.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #80
Kumar Rocker was terrific in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the White Sox, allowing just four hits and one walk over five innings of shutout baseball.
The 25-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the afternoon. Rocker was pressed into emergency action on Sunday with Tyler Mahle (shoulder) hitting the injured list, and he made a statement that he’s here to say this time around. All four of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles and only once did the White Sox have a baserunner reach third base against him. Rocker got eight swings and misses on 82 pitches on the afternoon, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to further improve upon his 7.31 ERA and 1.69 WHIP (28 1/3 innings) when he squares off against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
  • CWS 3rd Baseman #20
Miguel Vargas blasted his 10th home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, accounting for all of the White Sox’ offense in a loss to the Rangers.
Vargas finally got the White Sox on the board in the sixth inning as he crushed a first-pitch fastball from Jacob Webb for a 380-foot (99.9 mph EV) solo shot. That would be the extent of their offense in the ballgame. The 25-year-old infielder finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a strikeout and is now hitting .242/.322/.440 with 10 long balls and 31 RBI on the season.
