Yankees signed RHP Cristian Hernandez to a minor league contract.
Hernandez has yet to pitch above Double-A and spent the last seven years in Philadelphia’s minor-league system. The 24-year-old righty posted a 3.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 57/13 K/BB ratio across 54 innings (40 appearances, one start) last year across three levels in the Phillies’ system. He’s merely extra organizational depth for New York.

Marcus Semien went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run double against the Padres on Friday.
Semien started the scoring with a two-run double in the third inning. Those would be the only runs the Rangers scored as they ultimately lost in extra-innings to the Padres 3-2. Semien is just one of many Rangers having a down offensive season. The 34-year-old infielder is hitting .238 with a .683 OPS and 42 RBI on the year.
Hold Muncy if placed on injured list
Eric Samulski advises fantasy managers to "hold" Max Muncy if placed on the injured list, who has produced in a big way since the beginning of May, and discusses the outlook for Dodgers' call-up Esteury Ruiz.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #13
Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run against the Rangers on Friday.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #80
Kumar Rocker allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Padres on Friday.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vasquez allowed two runs in six innings and got a no-decision in the Padres’ 3-2 victory over the Rangers on Friday.
  • SD Shortstop #2
Xander Bogaerts was removed from Friday night’s game against the Rangers in the middle of an at-bat after suffering an apparent hamstring injury.
The 32-year-old infielder took a big cut at the plate with the bases loaded in the 10th inning and immediately grabbed at his hamstring. After a consultation from the training staff, he was lifted from the game. Presumably he’ll head for additional testing to determine the severity of the injury. Expect the Padres to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • TOR 2nd Baseman #0
Blue Jays’ manager John Schneider told reporters after Friday’s game that Andrés Giménez will undergo an MRI exam on his injured ankle.
The Blue Jays want to get the imaging done to get a better idea of what they’re dealing with after Giménez aggravated an existing ankle injury on Friday while going first to third on a single off the bat of George Springer. Fantasy managers should be sure to check back prior to Saturday’s game to see if he’ll ultimately require a trip to the injured list.
  • MIA 2nd Baseman #1
Connor Norby went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Brewers on Friday.
Norby’s home run was his fifth of the season. The 25-year-old infielder started the season on the injured list and has struggled since getting healthy. Norby hit .247 with seven home runs and 17 RBI in 36 games after being acquired in a trade by the Marlins last year. This year, he’s hitting .241 with a .651 OPS and 24 RBI in 65 games.
  • MIL 2nd Baseman #21
Caleb Durbin went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk, an RBI and two stolen bases against the Marlins on Friday.
Durbin scored to tie the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly and put the Brewers ahead with an RBI single in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old infielder was on base three times and stole two bases, giving him eight in 67 games this year. Durbin is hitting .257 with a .705 OPS and 31 RBI this season.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #29
Trevor Megill tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Marlins on Friday.
Megill’s save was No. 19 on the season for him. The 31-year-old right-hander has run with the Brewers’ closer job since Devin Williams was injured last season. Megill had 21 saves last year and is approaching that number before the All-Star break this year. He lowered his ERA to 2.64 with the scoreless inning.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #22
Sandy Alcantara allowed five runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.
Alcantara gave up five hits, walked one and struck out four. The 29-year-old right-hander has completed six innings in five of his last six starts, but the results haven’t improved very much. Alcantara is saddled with a 7.01 ERA on the year and there’s no reason to have him active in fantasy leagues at the moment. He’ll face the Reds on the road next week.
