Guardians hired Grant Fink as hitting coach.
Fink was the Guardians’ minor league hitting coordinator the last three years, so he’ll have some familiarity with some of the Cleveland hitters. He replaces Chris Valaika, who left the Guardians to join Terry Francona’s staff in Cincinnati.

Pirates’ skipper Don Kelly told reporters on Saturday that Endy Rodriguez (elbow) will receive a PRP injection next week and then be shut down to rest for the next four weeks.
That explains why he was moved to the 60-day injured list on Friday. That determination was made after a follow-up examination with Dr. Neal ElAttrache. It sounds like Rodriguez is going to be sidelined well into the second half of the season and can probably be dropped in any season-long leagues.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.
  • COL Left Fielder #27
Jordan Beck is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Saturday’s tilt against the Braves in Atlanta.
It appears to be nothing more than a regular day of rest for the 24-year-old outfielder with tough opposing right-hander Spencer Strider toeing the slab for the Braves. Sam Hilliard will start in his place in left field and will bat leadoff for the Rockies on Saturday.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #77
Reds acquired RHP Brian Van Belle from the Red Sox for cash considerations.
The 28-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment by the Red Sox earlier in the week. Van Belle has done a very nice job at the Triple-A level this season, compiling a 2.29 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 41/7 K/BB ratio over 51 innings in 12 appearances (eight starts). He’ll add extra rotation depth for the Reds.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) was held out of the Astros’ starting lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Twins.
The good news is that while the Astros made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday, Paredes heading to the injured list was not one of them. He has shown significant improvement since exiting Thursday’s game due to a hamstring strain and is expected to rejoin the Astros’ lineup in another day or two. Mauricio Dubon will start in his place at the hot corner on Saturday.
  • BAL Catcher #98
Orioles optioned C Maverick Handley to Triple-A Norfolk.
With Gary Sanchez (wrist) returning from the injured list on Saturday, Handley was no longer relevant as a depth option on the Orioles’ bench and will return to a regular role at Triple-A Norfolk. The 27-year-old is just 3-for-40 (.075) with a 17/2 K/BB ratio in his time with the Orioles this season.
  • BAL Catcher #99
Orioles activated C Gary Sanchez from the 10-day injured list.
The hard-hitting 32-year-old backstop has been sidelined since late April due to inflammation in his right wrist. He tore the cover off the ball on his minor league rehab assignment, slashing .364/.417/.818 with three homers and eight RBI in only 22 plate appearances. He’ll give the Orioles’ offense a boost against left-handed pitching. Maverick Handley was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move on Saturday.
  • KC 2nd Baseman #6
Jonathan India (shoulder) was held out of the Royals’ starting lineup for Saturday’s matchup against the Athletics.
India was removed from Friday night’s ballgame due to a shoulder injury that he suffered while diving for a ball behind second base. There have not been any updates yet regarding his status or how long he’ll be sidelined for. Nick Loftin will start in his place at second base on Saturday and could be in line for increased action if India requires an extended absence.
  • TEX Left Fielder #32
Evan Carter (wrist) was held out of the Rangers’ starting lineup for Saturday’s tilt against the White Sox.
As expected, Carter will get an extra day off to rest after jamming his wrist while making a diving catch during Friday’s victory over the White Sox. Wyatt Langford will slide over to cover center field while Sam Haggerty will draw a start in left and will bat ninth against White Sox’ right-hander Mike Vasil on Saturday.
  • LAA Right Fielder #12
Jorge Soler is not in the Angels’ starting lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Orioles.
Soler missed time earlier in the week due to a groin injury so it’s likely that they’re taking a cautious approach and easing him back into full-time action. LaMonte Wade Jr. will start in his place in right field and bat seventh for the Halos against Tomoyuki Sugano and the Orioles on Saturday evening in Baltimore.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #63
Diamondbacks signed RHP Matt Foster to a minor league contract.
The former White Sox’ right-hander had been pitching for the Algodoneros de Union Laguna in the Mexican League where he registered a stellar 0.66 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and a 13/0 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings of work. He’ll provide extra bullpen depth in the upper minors for the Diamondbacks.
