Tyrone Taylor underwent an umbilical hernia repair as well on October 30 and also underwent a right elbow loose body removal Thursday.
The Mets announced those operations for Taylor on Friday, and also said that the average timeline for return for both operations was around two months. That should put the outfielder back in plenty of time for spring training, but obviously a complication with either injury could see that timeline change.

White Sox activated INF Bryan Ramos from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Ramos had been shelved since the end of spring training due to a right elbow strain. He’s now fully recovered and will return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level until the White Sox decide to give him another opportunity.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts said Friday that left-hander Clayton Kershaw (toe) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old southpaw isn’t eligible to return from the injured list until May 17, so it will be a long and slow ramp up for Kershaw. In leagues that have injured list spots available, Kershaw doesn’t make for a bad stash candidate as the results are likely to be very good whenever he’s actually on the mound.
  • WSH Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams was removed from Friday night’s battle against the Marlins in the fourth inning due to an apparent injury.
Abrams missed a pair of games earlier in the week due to tightness in his thigh, so the chances are that this is probably related. Amed Rosario took his place in the lineup with Paul Dejong shuffling over to cover shortstop. Expect the Nationals to provide an update on Abrams’ status after the game.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #35
Cubs’ skipper Craig Counsell told reporters on Friday that Justin Steele will get a second opinion on his injured left elbow.
Steele underwent an MRI exam on Thursday that showed more of the same — tendinitis in the same area that sidelined him for a couple of weeks down the stretch during the 2024 season. It sounds like someone is at least concerned that there could be something else at play though. While there’s no reason to hit the panic button just yet, it’s a situation that fantasy managers should continue to monitor.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #32
Aaron Civale suffered a setback in his recovery from a strained hamstring and is currently being evaluated.
Civale resumed throwing at the beginning of April and the thought was that he was closing in on a minor league rehab assignment. It’s unclear how big of a setback he suffered and how long it will extend his timeline. Expect the Brewers to have more clarity on his status over the next couple of days.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #53
Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will make his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
The 32-year-old right-hander has made it all the way back from shoulder surgery and is finally ready for live game action. He’s expected to work four innings and throw around 65 pitches in his first start. He’s expected to need three outings there before he’s ready to join the Brewers’ rotation at the end of April.
  • CWS Left Fielder #15
Austin Slater was a late scratch from the White Sox’ starting lineup for Friday night’s contest against the Red Sox.
No word yet on the reason for the late scratch. Slater had been slated to start in right field and bat third for the White Sox. Brooks Baldwin will replace him in the lineup and will start in right field against Sean Newcomb and the Red Sox on Friday evening.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #70
Athletics’ manager Mark Kotsay announced Friday that JT Ginn will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to start on Saturday against the Mets.
It sounds like Ginn will be taking over the rotation spot that was vacated by the struggling Joey Estes. Ginn made eight appearances (six starts) with the A’s during the 2024 season, posting a 4.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 29/9 K/BB ratio over 34 innings of work. It’s a tough spot against the Mets in West Sacramento though, which means he should probably be avoided for streaming purposes.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) returned to the Padres’ starting lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Rockies.
The 26-year-old superstar wound up missing just one game after tweaking his surgically-repaired right shoulder on Tuesday. With Jackson Merrill and Jake Cronenworth on the shelf, the Padres will need Tatis to carry even more of the load over the next couple of weeks. He’ll bat leadoff against right-hander German Marquez on Friday evening in San Diego.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto (shoulder) is playing shortstop once again at Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, marking the first time that he has done so in back-to-back games.
Angels’ manager Ron Washington is already on record saying that he wanted Neto to play nine innings at shortstop in back-to-back games before he rejoins the Angels. Neto played six innings on Thursday night and hasn’t played more than seven, so it’s going to take him at least a few more games before he’s able to check off that box. If all goes well, there’s a chance that he could be ready to return by the end of next week.
