Yankees declined RHP Lou Trivino’s $5 million club option for 2025.
Trivino hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2022 ALCS due to an elbow strain and subsequent Tommy John surgery. He threw a total of 11 innings in the minor leagues during the 2024 campaign before being shut down in September with a sore shoulder. The 33-year-old hurler is now free to peddle his wares on the open market.

Dominic Canzone is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Orioles.
Canzone will sit against southpaw Trevor Rogers. Dylan Moore is playing right field and hitting ninth. Cole Young also gets the day off with Jorge Polanco getting the start at second base and Mitch Garver the designated hitter.
What's next for Alonso after making Mets history?
With Pete Alonso now alone atop the Mets' all-time home run leaderboard, Eric Samulski explores what could be next for the slugging first basemen and the only organization he's ever known.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #27
Aaron Nola (rib, ankle) will join the Phillies over the weekend before their series against the Nationals.
The Phillies have yet to name a starter for Sunday’s game against Washington. Nola threw 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in a rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. You get where this is going. It’s not a lock that Nola makes that start, but all signs point to him making his return to the Philadelphia rotation this weekend.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #61
Astros optioned LHP Colton Gordon to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Gordon worked two ineffective innings in the blowout loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday while allowing five runs; four of those earned. Jordan Weems will take his spot in the bullpen.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #51
Astros selected the contract of RHP Jordan Weems.
Weems is up to give the Astros some depth in their bullpen after the 14-1 shellacking by the Red Sox on Tuesday. He likely will just be a low-leverage option in this stint with Houston.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #95
Orioles sent RHP Houston Roth outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Roth didn’t get claimed after being designated for assignment by the Orioles on Monday. The 27-year-old has pitched well in the minors, but his lack of velocity makes him more organizational depth than future high-leverage reliever.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
Matt Chapman is not in the lineup Wednesday will dealing with soreness in his right hand.
Chapman missed time in 2025 with a right-hand injury, so it’s not surprising that some soreness has built up. This sounds very precautionary, so Chapman should be back in the lineup in the coming days.
  • MIL 2nd Baseman #2
Brice Turang (finger) is hitting sixth and playing second base against the Pirates on Wednesday.
Turang was removed from Tuesday’s blowout win over the Pirates with a sore pinky, but it was purely precautionary as evidence by his return to the lineup less than 24 hours later.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
Matt Chapman is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Padres.
It’s just a day off for Chapman. The 32-year-old gets a breather with Casey Schmitt getting the start at the hot corner and hitting third against Nick Pivetta and the Padres.
  • TEX Right Fielder #53
Rangers placed OF Adolis García on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain.
It’s known when García picked up the ankle sprain, but the 32-year-old will be out of action for at least a week-plus, and likely longer. Evan Carter (back) was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.
  • TEX Left Fielder #32
Rangers activated OF Evan Carter from the 10-day injured list.
Carter missed just-over the minimum 10-day stint while dealing with back spasms. He should be an everyday option — with the occasional day of rest, of course — now that he’s back. The question is if these back issues are going to linger in not just 2025, but beyond.
