  • LAD Relief Pitcher #78
Dodgers added RHP Ben Casparius to the NLDS roster, according to Fabian Ardaya of the Athletic.
Casparius has replaced Michael Grove, who suffered an apparent injury. The Dodgers are still carrying 13 pitchers for the rest of the NLDS.
  • LAD Shortstop #11
Miguel Rojas (adductor) was removed from Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres on Tuesday.
Rojas was visited in the field by the Dodgers trainer in the bottom of the second inning, but stayed in the game. After a single and advancing to third base in the top of the third inning, Andy Pages pinch ran for Rojas. Pages stayed in the game to play center field while Tommy Edman moved to shortstop. Rojas has been playing through a torn adductor muscle and will need surgery this offseason.
  • NYM Third Baseman #27
Mark Vientos went 2-for-4 against the Phillies on Tuesday.
Vientos has been the Mets’ best hitter in the playoffs. He added another two hits against the Phillies in Game 3 Tuesday. The 24-year-old third baseman is hitting .417 with a 1.148 OPS and seven RBI in 24 at-bats this postseason.
  • NYM First Baseman #20
Pete Alonso went 1-for-2 with two runs, two walks and a solo home run against the Phillies on Tuesday.
Alonso’s home run was his third of this postseason, all of which have gone to the opposite field. Alonso started the scoring with a solo shot off Aaron Nola in the second inning. The Polar Bear is hitting .211 with a 1.069 OPS and six RBI in 19 at-bats this postseason.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #27
Aaron Nola allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Mets on Tuesday.
Nola gave up five hits, walked two and struck out eight. Nola allowed a pair of solo home runs to Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker. Down 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Philadelphia desperately needed a shutdown inning. Nola allowed a single to Mark Vientos and walked the bases loaded with no outs before he was removed. A two-out two-run single by Starling Marte off Orion Kerkering gave the Mets a 4-0 lead and essentially sealed the Phillies’ fate in Game 3.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #59
Sean Manaea allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Mets’ 7-2 victory over the Phillies in Game 3 of the NLDS on Tuesday.
Manaea gave up three hits, walked two and struck out six. It’s safe to say Manaea made himself some money this offseason with the dominant effort. The 32-year-old entered Tuesday night’s start with a 10.66 ERA in three career playoff starts. Pitching for his fourth team in the last four years and in the biggest game of his career to this point, Manaea turned in an excellent performance. He could be in line for Game 1 of the NLCS should the Mets close out the series.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #52
Royals manager Matt Quatraro announced RHP Michael Wacha will start Game 4 of the ALDS.
Wacha allowed three runs in four innings in a no-decision in Game 1. He’ll be pitching with four days of rest on Thursday.
  • LAD First Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman is in the Dodgers lineup for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres, playing first base and batting third.
Freeman left midway through Game 2 after he tweaked his ankle in his second at-bat, but it’s the playoffs so he’ll try to play again. Freeman missed the final three games of the regular season with an ankle injury. He was replaced by Enrique Hernandez in Game 2 on Sunday.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #29
Dodgers removed RHP Michael Grove from the ALDS roster with an apparent injury, according to Fabian Ardaya of the Athletic.
It’s unclear what injury Grove has. The Dodgers will still carry 13 pitchers for the rest of this series as Ben Casparius has been added to the roster.
  • NYY Third Baseman #19
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters he was “unsure” who will start at first base in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Royals on Wednesday.
The Yankees surprisingly had Jon Berti play first base against the Royals in the Game 2 loss even though he’d never played the position before. Berti does have some (small sampled) success against starter Seth Lugo; going 3-for-6 in his limited action. If it’s not Berti, the Yankees could have Oswaldo Cabrera or Ben Rice handle the not-so-hot corner.
  • COL Manager
Rockies signed manager Bud Black to a one-year extension.
Black will manage the Rockies for a ninth season. The 67-year-old has more wins than any other skipper in the club’s history; even with a record of just 537-657 over the first eight years. It’s not likely that W-L gets any better in 2025.
