  • OAK Center Fielder #33
JJ Bleday went 1-for-4 with two RBI against the Rangers on Thursday.
Bleday had an RBI groundout in the third inning and an RBI single in the fifth inning. He’s hitting .243 with a .766 OPS and 60 RBI on the year.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #73
Giants activated RHP Randy Rodriguez off the 15-day injured list.
Rodriguez is back after missing six weeks with a flexor strain in his throwing elbow. The 25-year-old should operate in the mid-to-late innings while he’s with the club.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #47
Giants optioned RHP Mason Black to Triple-A Sacramento.
Black is sent down after allowing four runs over 2 2/3 innings Wednesday against the D_Backs. The 24-year-old right-hander finished his season with a 6.44 ERA and 31/15 K/BB over 36 1/3 innings, but showed flashes of potentially being a successful starter if he can keep the free passes in check.
  • SEA Center Fielder #10
With the Mariners eliminated, Victor Robles, Justin Turner and Jorge Polanco are all out of the lineup on Friday.
Luke Raley and Josh Rogas are also sitting, though since the Mariners are facing a lefty in JP Sears, that’s typical. Luis Urías, Mitch Haniger and Leo Rivas are getting rare starts tonight.
  • STL First Baseman #26
Cardinals activated 1B Luken Baker from the paternity list.
Baker was away from the team for three days. No word yet whether he’s in tonight’s lineup, but since the Dodgers are starting off with a righty in their bullpen game tonight, he probably won’t be.
  • STL Center Fielder #11
Cardinals optioned OF Victor Scott II to Triple-A Memphis.
Scott played in all three games while he was up, going 3-for-5. Alas, he’s still taking a backseat in center field for now because of Michael Siani’s defense.
  • OAK Starting Pitcher #36
Athletics activated RHP Ross Stripling from the 15-day injured list.
Stripling is back for a surprise cameo. The 34-year-old, who had been out with a back strain, has a 6.08 ERA in 14 starts and seven relief appearances this season.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #66
Athletics optioned LHP Brady Basso to the ACL Athletics.
Basso’s season with him giving up five runs in three innings versus the Rangers last night.
  • HOU Left Fielder #44
Yordan Alvarez hit the weight room and walked on a treadmill while wearing a brace on his sprained right knee Friday.
Manager Joe Espada said Alvarez would have to resume baseball activities before being penciled on to the Wild Card roster next week. When he does return, it’ll be as a designated hitter.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #41
The Astros will have Spencer Arrighetti available out of the bullpen this weekend against the Guardians.
Arrighetti is lined up to start Sunday, but the Astros want to treat him as a reliever instead and line him up to be used that way in the postseason. They’re likely looking at Framber Valdez, Yusei Kikuchi, Ronel Blanco and Hunter Brown as their postseason starters.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #79
Nationals recalled RHP Jackson Rutledge from Triple-A Rochester.
Rutledge finished strong for the Red Wings, pitching 13 scoreless innings in his final two starts. Overall, though, he had a 6.40 ERA and walked 77 over 122 1/3 innings in Triple-A. One imagines he’ll be in some danger of getting DFA’d or non-tendered this winter. First, though, he’ll get to spend the final weekend in the bullpen.
