Guardians activated OF Steven Kwan off the 15-day injured list.
Kwan missed the minimum stint on the IL while dealing with lower body fatigue. Cleveland may be a little careful with the 27-year-old with the Guardians locked into a playoff spot, but he should be in the lineup more often than not and hit at the top of it for those playoff games.

Cubs signed INF/OF Jaylen Palmer to a minor league contract.
The versatile 24-year-old spent his first six minor league seasons in the Mets’ organization. In 2024 he slashed .223/.316/.436 with 12 homers, 33 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 83 contests at Double-A Binghampton while seeing action at first base, second base, third base and all three outfield positions. He’ll add minor league depth for the Cubs.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #48
Angels signed RHP Shaun Anderson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 30-year-old right-hander appeared in six games between the Rangers and Marlins during the 2024 campaign, registering an underwhelming 8.27 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and a 10/1 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings. He’ll add bullpen depth for the Halos.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher
Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told reporters that top prospect Travis Sykora is unlikely to see any game action until May due to a hip injury.
The hard-throwing 20-year-old righty was a third-round selection by the Nationals from the 2023 draft class and has blossomed into one of the top pitching prospects in the game. He registered a stellar 2.33 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and a stellar 129/27 K/BB ratio over 85 innings at Single-A Fredericksburg. The Nationals are going to take every possible precaution here so don’t expect to see him jump up to the Double-A level until the end of the season.
  • STL Third Baseman #28
Cardinals POBO John Mozeliak said that the odds are greater now that Nolan Arenado is the opening day third baseman in St. Louis than traded.
With the Red Sox signing Alex Bregman on Wednesday night, the biggest potential target for Arenado is now off the table. It’s possible the Yankees, Cubs, or Tigers, who were all in on Bregman, could be interested in Arenado, but it doesn’t appear likely given his contract and recent run of declining production. Mozeliak said, “Our mindset is Nolan Arenado is our third baseman,” and fantasy managers likely should be as well.
  • PHI Second Baseman #39
Phillies signed INF Christian Arroyo to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Arroyo spent 2024 in Triple-A with the Brewers and hit .237/.305/.360. He last appeared in the big leagues in 2023 and is a career .252/.299/.394 hitter in 992 plate appearances. He’s a long shot to break camp with the Phillies.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #77
Dodgers placed RHP River Ryan on the 60-day injured list.
The Dodgers needed a spot on the 40-man roster after officially signing Clayton Kershaw, so Ryan heads to the 60-day injured list in a procedural move. He will be out for all of the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the end of August.
  • BAL Right Fielder #28
Daz Cameron cleared waivers and will stay in spring training with Baltimore.
The Orioles acquired Cameron from the Athletics this off-season but designated him for assignment after signing Ramon Laureano last week. Cameron will remain as a non-roster invitee to spring training and hope to win a spot in the Orioles’ organization.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #72
Mets consider Dedniel Núñez (elbow) fully healthy entering spring training.
Núñez missed a lot of time after the All-Star break with forearm tightness, including two trips to the IL. However, the 28-year-old has allegedly been throwing 96 mph in team-supervised live bullpen sessions in the Dominican Republic this off-season. If he remains healthy heading into the season, he should open the year in the Mets bullpen.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #68
Tyler Wells (elbow) is playing catch on flat ground and says that he feels good.
Wells is rehabbing from reconstructive elbow surgery and is taking his recovery “day-by-day.” While the Orioles are hoping for a post-All-Star break return, Wells isn’t clear on his timeline. “I don’t have any timeline or anything like that. I’m just trying to focus on what I can take care of in my day-to-day stuff and make sure I’m recovering well, that I’m working out, eating right, things like that.”
  • CWS Manager #25
White Sox manager Will Venable said the team will not have a set designated hitter this season.
“We are not going to have someone designated for that role,” Venable said at spring training on Thursday. “We are going to use it to get guys off their feet, to be able to match up defensively, and to kind of leave that open as a way to do all those things.” The White Sox don’t have a player who profiles best as a designated hitter but have plenty of outfielders, so this feels like a good way to ensure that four of Mike Tauchman, Andrew Benintendi, Luis Robert Jr., Austin Slater, and Michael A. Taylor can all get consistent at-bats.
