Diamondbacks sent C Andrew Knizner outright to Triple-A Reno.
Knizner is a well traveled depth catcher. He has the option to refuse the assignment, but either way he’ll become a minor league free agent at the end of the season.

Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.
  • BOS Shortstop #10
Trevor Story doubled twice and drove in a run in a win over the Yankees on Saturday.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #57
Greg Weisert allowed a run while picking up a save Saturday against the Yankees.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #73
Hunter Dobbins blanked the Yankees over six quality innings to pick up a win in a 4-3 victory for the White Sox on Saturday.
Impressive. Dobbins struck out five, and two of those punchouts came against Aaron Judge. He gave up only two hits — both singles — and issued one walk while throwing 52-of-82 pitches for strikes. Dobbins has been a quality find for the Boston rotation, and now has a 3.74 ERA and 42/11 K/BB for his trouble over 55 1/3 innings. Assuming the rotation order doesn’t change, he’s set to face off against the Giants in San Francisco on Friday.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #55
Carlos Rodón allowed seven hits and four runs — three earned — over five-plus innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.
Rodón was better than his previous outing against Boston when he gave up five runs in as many innings, but there were still shaky moments from the southpaw. He walked a pair against his four strikeouts, and he was pulled in the sixth after throwing 92 pitches — 59 of those for strikes. It wasn’t a disastrous outing for Rodón, but another disappointing one just based on expectations set in the 2025 campaign. He’ll still take a strong 3.01 ERA into a scheduled start against the Angels on Thursday.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #51
Tyler Mahle (shoulder) will miss Sunday’s start against the White Sox.
Mahle will not only miss Sunday’s battle against Chicago, but is likely to be placed on the 15-day injured list. Kumar Rocker will take Mahle’s place in the rotation, and Mahle will likely not be back until around the All-Star break at the earliest.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #80
Kumar Rocker will start Sunday’s game against the White Sox.
Rocker will make his return to the Texas pitching staff, and it comes at the expense of Tyler Mahle; who is likely headed to the injured list due to shoulder soreness. Rocker obviously has the stuff to be a strong fantasy option, and the White Sox lineup just as obviously offers opportunity. There’s certainly risk because of Rocker’s shaky command at times, but the risk comes with considerable potential reward.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #35
Justin Verlander (pectoral) is expected to return to the Giants’ rotation during their next homestand.
Verlander threw another bullpen Saturday, and Giants manager Bob Melvin told reporters that the future Hall of Famer “felt good” after that session. Melvin mentioned that the team is still discussing what moves will be made to get Verlander back in the rotation, but all signs point to him making a start in the next week.
  • STL 2nd Baseman #16
Nolan Gorman hit a three-run homer and walked twice Saturday in the Cardinals’ 8-5 win over the Brewers.
Gorman’s homer made it a 7-1 game in the fifth and ended Jose Quintana’s afternoon. With Brendan Donovan missing the last four games, Gorman has now gotten to start six straight games. Going into this stretch, he’d started just six of the Cardinals’ previous 21 games. He’s batting .321/.424/.714 in 33 plate appearances this month, so one imagines the Cardinals will stick with him after Donovan returns, which could result in less playing time for Jordan Walker, Alec Burleson and Pedro Pagés (since Iván Herrera would likely do less DHing).
  • STL Starting Pitcher #53
Andre Pallante gave up four runs — three earned — in 4 1/3 innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Brewers.
Pallante was given seven runs of support, but the Cardinals still didn’t trust him to finish off the fifth with three runs already in during the inning. Kyle Leahy took over and retired William Contreras and Christian Yelich to end the rally. Pallante remained 4-3 with a 4.83 ERA. He’ll face the Reds next.
