  • LAD Starting Pitcher #28
Bobby Miller lasted just two innings and surrendered four runs Tuesday versus the Marlins.
Only four of the 11 balls in play against Miller were hit hard, but he surrendered seven hits anyway. He didn’t often get batters to chase, and he failed to get whiffs when the batters did offer; his 65 pitches produced 23 swings and just two misses. Even with the Dodgers staff as decimated as it is, it’s going to be really difficult to justify starting Miller in October. He might have just one more chance to earn a spot in a start against San Diego next Tuesday.
  • LAD Shortstop #11
Miguel Rojas remains out of the lineup for the Dodgers on Thursday.
The 35-year-old was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with a sore hamstring, and it appears that he will get another day off against Miami on Thursday. Tommy Edman will slide to shortstop again, which means Andy Pages will play center field and bat eighth.
  • LAD Left Fielder #37
Teoscar Hernández is not in the lineup for the Dodgers on Thursday.
It seems like a routine day off for the 31-year-old. Chris Taylor will start in left field and bat ninth.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Kodai Senga (calf) will pitch one inning for Triple-A Syracuse this weekend with the intent to join the Mets next week.
The Mets have said that Senga could be used out of the bullpen to facilitate a quicker return to the team, so it appears that’s what the 31-year-old is hoping for. “I’ve been working my tail off and devoting all my time toward this,” Senga said through an interpreter. “I need to make this work.” While Senga will have no fantasy value the rest of the season, his return to the Mets, even in a bullpen role, would be a big boost.
  • SEA Center Fielder #10
Victor Robles (hand) is back in the lineup and batting lead-off for the Mariners on Thursday.
Robles allegedly missed Wednesday’s game with a hand issue but it could very well have been a one-game benching for a poor baserunning decision that cost the Mariners big time in Tuesday’s loss. Regardless, Robles is back in there on Thursday, and he’s been one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last month so he needs to be in fantasy lineups as well.
  • TOR Left Fielder #5
Blue Jays recalled OF Jonatan Clase from Triple-A Buffalo.
Clase will take the spot of Bo Bichette, who landed back on the IL with a fractured finger. The 22-year-old speedster could see starts in center field with Daulton Varsho also hurt and his speed would be a major factor in fantasy leagues, so this is a situation to monitor.
  • TOR Shortstop #11
Blue Jays placed SS Bo Bichette on the IL with a fractured right middle finger.
It’s a tough break for Bichette, who was just activated from the IL on Tuesday and then immediately got hurt again. Perhaps we can chalk this up to a lost season for the 26-year-old but his stolen base outputs have been trending down for multiple years and his aggressive approach at the plate has led to declining power production as well. He could be a great value in 2025 drafts if he is able to rebound, but it’s hard to feel confident taking him in the early rounds of drafts anymore.
  • BAL Shortstop #29
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde mentioned that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Ramón Urías (ankle) is back in the Orioles lineup before Jordan Westburg (hand).
It’s not a surprise considering Urías is coming back from a sprained ankle and Westburg is coming back from a fractured right hand. Hyde mentioned that both players will need “multiple games before returning” to the Orioles’ lineup, but fantasy managers in weekly waiver leagues could find some value in adding either player on Sunday night since it seems like they should be back at some point next week.
  • BAL First Baseman #6
Ryan Mountcastle (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk this weekend
Mountcastle was placed on the IL on August 26th and has struggled to get over the hump in his recovery. However, things seem to be turning the corner for the 27-year-old, who could return to the Orioles lineup sometime next week. It may be too late for fantasy managers, but the Orioles will certainly welcome it.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #66
Grant Holmes will start for the Braves on Sunday against the Marlins.
It was trending this way after Holmes entered the rotation for an injured Reynaldo Lopez on Tuesday; however, it’s nice to see it now be confirmed. Holmes was limited to just four innings against the Reds as he begins to stretch back out into a starter’s workload, but he should be able to go at least five innings this weekend, which gives him a good chance to earn a win in a plus matchup. He’s firmly back on the streaming radar.
  • ATL Center Fielder #18
Ramón Laureano is starting in left field and batting fifth for the Braves on Thursday.
That’s now four straight starts for Laureano, who seems to have taken the left field job back from Jarred Kelenic after the Braves, somewhat questionably, decided to give Kelenic another stretch as the starter to begin the month. Laureano is hitting .309 in 44 games since the All-Star break with six home runs, 18 runs, 18 RBI, and four steals. If you dropped him when it seemed like he had been relegated to the bench, you should go ahead and add him again.
