  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw threw off a simulated mound with no shoe on his left foot to try to keep pressure off his injured toe on Monday.
Kershaw is trying to keep his arm in shape for when his foot allows him to resume pitching. He last started on Aug. 30, giving up three runs in an inning before his toe forced him to the IL.
  • HOU Left Fielder #30
Kyle Tucker is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Padres.
Tucker will get a day off Wednesday as the team continues to give the 27-year-old some maintenance days. Jose Altuve is the DH so Yordan Alvarez will start in left field, and Jason Heyward is getting the start in right.
  • LAD Shortstop #11
Miguel Rojas has been scratched from Wednesday’s lineup against the Marlins.
No reason has been given as to why Rojas has been removed from the lineup just yet. Tommy Edman is now the starting shortstop, and Enrique Hernandez is lining up at second base.
  • WAS Second Baseman #2
Luis Garcia (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Mets.
Garcia Jr. was removed Tuesday with wrist discomfort, and unsurprisingly the 24-year-old will not be back in the lineup a day later. Josa Tena will start at second base in Garcia’s place.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #36
Cardinals recalled RHP Michael McGreevy from Triple-A Memphis
McGreevy is up to replace Lance Lynn after Lynn was placed back on the injured list with knee inflammation. McGreevy should take Lynn’s spot in the rotation, but it’s worth pointing out his first start will take place in Colorado against the Rockies if that’s the case.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #31
Cardinals placed RHP Lance Lynn on the 15-day injured list with right knee inflammation.
Assuming the Cardinals don’t make the postseason, Lynn’s thrown his last pitch in 2024. The right-hander was just activated off the injured list September 11, and apparently the 37-year-old is still dealing with the problem. Michael McGreevy is up to replace Lynn on the roster. He’ll be a free agent at the end of the year.
  • BAL Shortstop #29
Ramón Urías (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.
Urías will be joined by Jordan Westburg on the assignment. Urías will likely need a couple of games before he’s deemed ready to roll, and should see starts in the infield once he’s back. His real-life value to Baltimore doesn’t carry over to fantasy formats.
  • BAL Shortstop #11
Jordan Westburg will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Norfolk.
Westburg will likely need at least a handful of games in Triple-A before he’s ready to return to the roster — assuming everything goes well, of course. The 25-year-old has missed right around eight weeks with his fractured right hand, and will be a welcome return to the lineup for Baltimore ahead of a (probable) playoff appearance.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #78
Yennier Canó told reporters Wednesday that he’s been dealing with forearm tightness.
Canó did tell reporters, however, that he was available for Tuesday’s game against the Giants. That game ended in a 10-0 shellacking, so there was no point in using the 30-year-old. Canó hasn’t pitched in a week, but seems likely to get in a game in the coming days, if not Wednesday.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #55
Brandon Williamson has been diagnosed with a torn UCL.
Williamson will need to undergo Tommy John surgery. The torn UCL occurred during Tuesday’s start against Atlanta, and he’ll not only miss the rest of 2024, but very likely the 2025 campaign as well.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #89
Tanner Houck will start Wednesday’s game against the Rays.
Houck hasn’t been able to pitch since September 4 because of shoulder fatigue, but the right-hander is back on the bump against Tampa Bay. The Red Sox may take extra precaution with the 28-year-old because of the layoff and where they are in the standings, so keep that in mind before streaming him.
