Isaac Paredes hit a two-run single to help the Cubs to a 2-1 win Saturday over the Yankees.
Paredes gave the Cubs a 2-1 lead with his two-run single off Gerrit Cole in the first, and that was it for Chicago off Cole and the Yankees bullpen. That was enough for the win, however, and it also pushed Paredes’ RBI total to 71. It has not been a great reunion thus far between the infielder and Chicago, but it’s been a solid year for the infielder; mostly based on his success with Tampa Bay.

Tanner Scott tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to record the save against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Scott was summoned in the bottom of the ninth with a one-run lead to close it out against the Diamondbacks. He worked around a base hit, striking out one to secure the win and convert his sixth save of the season. It was a nice recovery after giving up three runs in his last outing.
Reynolds putting together a solid season
Bryan Reynolds has been heating up as of late, with the two-time All-Star proving he still has plenty left in the tank for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Eric Lauer allowed two runs with one strikeout over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Lauer kept the Diamondbacks off the board through two innings before giving up a solo homer to Corbin Carroll in the third. He allowed the first two runners to reach in the fifth, then gave up a run on a sacrifice fly. Lauer struck out the next batter and was replaced on the mound at 70 pitches, falling one out short of qualifying for a win. He scattered five hits and one walk while striking out just one. The 31-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 5.74 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 31/18 K/BB ratio across 47 innings. But Tuesday’s start makes it three runs over 10 2/3 innings with the Dodgers. Lauer lines up for a start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next Tuesday.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #34
Michael Soroka allowed four runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Soroka gave up a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman in the first inning. Shohei Ohtani would drive in two more with a triple in the second inning. Soroka settled in to give the D-backs four more scoreless frames, ending his day after six innings with six strikeouts. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a solid 3.49 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 66/15 K/BB ratio across 67 innings into a start against the Nationals in Arizona on Sunday.
  • TEX Designated Hitter #3
Joc Pederson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI to propel the Rangers past the Cardinals 7-4 on Tuesday.
Pederson’s doubles were hit 107.5 and 105.5 mph off Dustin May. He’s hit .357 with five homers and 10 RBI in his last 13 games, taking his OPS to .828. That’s a mere 214 points better than where he finished last year.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #17
Nathan Eovaldi allowed four runs and 11 hits over six innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.
Eovaldi entered the seventh up 4-2 and gave up a single, hit a batter and then surrendered a double and a single before being pulled. He was fortunate that Jalen Beeks stranded both inherited runners after taking over with none out. Eovaldi had 14 whiffs tonight, finishing with a 35 percent CSW. It wasn’t a particularly discouraging showing, even if he did allow 11 hits for just the fifth time in his career. He’ll face the Royals next Tuesday.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #16
Jakob Junis notched his fourth save with a scoreless ninth against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Jacob Latz had pitched two days in a row, so it was suspected that Junis would lose tonight. The 33-year-old journeyman has a 1.69 ERA in 26 2/3 innings of relief work for the Rangers.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #3
Dustin May yielded three runs in 5 2/3 innings and struck out nine versus the Rangers in a no-decision Tuesday
After entering the eighth with a no-hitter last time out against the Brewers, May struck out nine for a second straight outing tonight. Particularly impressive was that he threw his fastball 24 times with a 54 percent CSW and no hits allowed. Since giving up 13 runs in his first two starts, May has a 3.19 ERA and a 53/16 K/BB in 59 1/3 innings. We still wouldn’t typically trust him in mixed leagues, but he has some upside in a two-start week against the Mets and Twins next week.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #61
After coming into a tie game, Riley O’Brien gave up three runs in the top of the ninth to take a loss Tuesday against the Rangers.
A walk, three singles and a sac fly doomed O’Brien tonight. It’s the fourth straight appearance in which O’Brien has allowed a run, though one of those was just the automatic runner in extras. He has four blown saves and a 4.01 ERA, though he’s struck out 27, walked five and allowed only one homer in 26 1/3 innings. As long as the control mostly holds up, he’s probably still the best bet in the St. Louis pen. Still, it’d be hard to blame the team for getting antsy.
  • COL 2nd Baseman #3
Willi Castro went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer to power the Rockies to an 8-2 win over the Angels on Tuesday.
Castro’s only hit of the game was a big one as he took Grayson Rodriguez deep for a three-run blast in the fourth inning to break the game open. The 29-year-old super-utility man is up to three homers while slashing .260/.328/.364 with 25 runs scored, 22 RBI, and four steals across 192 plate appearances.
  • COL Catcher #15
Hunter Goodman went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk against the Angels on Tuesday.
Goodman put the Angels on the board with a solo homer off Grayson Rodriguez to lead off the second inning, a 111 mph shot to left field. He then drew a walk in the third and doubled in the ninth. The 26-year-old slugger has homered in back-to-back games and four times in his last seven. Goodman is up to 15 on the season while hitting .243/.311/.500 with 36 runs scored and 27 RBI across 235 plate appearances.
