  • MIN First Baseman #30
Carlos Santana (illness) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Royals.
Santana was pulled Saturday because he was feeling sick, and he’ll get Sunday off as well. It’ll be Jose Miranda starting at first base in Santana’s place.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #47
Frankie Montas is scheduled to start Game 2 for the Brewers on Wednesday.
With the season on the line, Milwaukee will turn to Montas as they find themselves down 1-0 in the series heading into Game 2 against the Mets. Teams that lose Game 1 are 0-8 in series since the current Wild Card format began in 2022.
  • ATL Center Fielder #23
Michael Harris II went 2-for-4 against the Padres on Tuesday.
Harris II struggled and battled injuries at times this season, but he ended the year with a strong finish. Harris II and the Braves offense as a whole will be a good buy low heading into 2025 drafts.
  • SD Catcher #20
Kyle Higashioka went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run against the Braves on Tuesday.
Higashioka hit a two-run shot off Luke Jackson in the eighth inning. Elias Diaz is the only other catcher on the Padres’ playoff roster so Higashioka should see a good amount of playing time this month as long as San Diego is still playing.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run against the Braves on Tuesday.
Tatis hit a two-run shot off AJ Smith-Shawver in the first inning and the Padres were on their way to a 4-0 win in Game 1. San Diego has been one of the best teams in baseball since the start of June. Now the Padres are one win away from advancing to the Division series.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #34
Michael King tossed seven shutout innings and got the win in the Padres’ 4-0 victory over the Braves in Game 1 of the Wild Card series on Tuesday.
King gave up five hits, walked none and struck out 12. He was excellent. The Padres traded Juan Soto last offseason because they needed pitching and payroll flexibility. King was the headliner in the package going to San Diego and he’s delivered in his first season with the Padres and as a full-time starting pitcher in general.
  • MIL Right Fielder #11
Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI against the Mets on Tuesday.
Chourio scored when Rhys Hoskins was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning. In the fourth inning, he tied the game with an RBI single. Chourio also made an impressive catch in left field. Not a bad playoff debut for the 20-year-old rookie.
  • NYM Designated Hitter #28
J.D. Martinez went 1-for-2 with two RBI against the Brewers on Tuesday.
Martinez started the game on the bench, but pinch hit for Jesse Winker in the fifth inning. His pinch-hit two-run single gave the Mets an 8-4 lead. Martinez has been a great hitter over the course of his career, but had his worst season yet with a .235/.320/.406 line and 16 home runs in the regular season. He heads into free agency once again this offseason.
  • NYM Third Baseman #27
Mark Vientos went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI against the Brewers on Tuesday.
The Mets broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning and Vientos was in the middle of it. He broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run single and scored on an RBI single by J.D. Martinez. Vientos wasn’t even the Mets’ starting third baseman to begin the season, but took the job and ran with it in midseason. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is developing a habit of removing Vientos late in games for defense. On Tuesday, Luisangel Acuna came into the game for Vientos and went to second base with Jose Iglesias sliding over to third base.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #51
Freddy Peralta allowed three runs in four innings and got a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday.
Peralta gave up two hits, walked one and struck out five. All three runs he allowed came in the third inning. Peralta allowed a two-run triple to Jesse Winker and a sacrifice fly to Starling Marte. The Brewers had a 4-3 advantage when Peralta left the game after throwing 68 pitches in four innings, but the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #40
Luis Severino allowed four runs (three earned) and got the win in the Mets’ 8-4 victory over the Brewers in Game 1 of the Wild Card series on Tuesday.
Severino allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out three. He was steady and hung around in the game long enough for the Mets’ offense to breakout with a five-run fifth inning. Severino would likely start again for the Mets should they advance to the Division series before heading into free agency this offseason.
