    Hoskins told reporters that the thumb is “jammed” but not broken, so the 32-year-old will likely need to spend a few days while it’s difficult for him to grip a bat.While Hoskins is out, it seems likely Jake Bauers will be the starter at first base.

    Jordan Westburg went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in Baltimore’s 9-6 win over the Braves on Saturday.
    Westburg was hit by a pitch in the first inning, then took Aaron Bummer deep with a two-run homer in the third. It was Westburg’s second straight day with a homer after missing the last five games with a finger injury. The 26-year-old infielder is hitting .243/.301/.479 with nine homers, 23 runs scored, 17 RBI, and one steal over 156 plate appearances.

    Tyler O’Neill went 1-for-5 with a solo homer against the Braves on Saturday.
    O’Neill scored the first run of the game for the Orioles, taking Aaron Bummer deep for a solo homer to lead off the third inning. It was his first home run since April 13 and third of the season as the 30-year-old outfielder has been limited to just 102 plate appearances due to injury.

    Austin Riley went 2-for-5 with a homer run and three RBI against the Orioles on Saturday.
    Riley put the Braves on the board with a two-run homer off Dean Kremer in the first inning, then doubled in a run in the fourth to post his fourth multi-hit game in his last seven contests. The 28-year-old third baseman is up to 13 homers while hitting g.275/.325/.436 with 47 runs scored and 45 RBI across 388 plate appearances.

    Matt Olson went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBI, and two walks against the Orioles on Saturday.
    Olson continues to tear it up at the plate after hitting .313 in June. He doubled and scored in the first inning, then slugged a solo homer to lead off the third. A base hit drove in a run in the fourth before drawing a pair of walks. The 31-year-old slugger is slashing .271/.372/.495 with 17 homers, 49 runs scored, and 58 RBI across 387 plate appearances.

    Yennier Cano struck out one batter in a clean tenth inning to convert the save against the Braves on Saturday.
    Cano was summoned in the bottom of the tenth after Félix Bautista tossed a scoreless ninth and the Orioles took a three-run lead in the top of the tenth. He struck out one batter in a clean inning of work to convert his first save of the season, while Bautista fell in line for his first win.

    Dean Kremer allowed five runs with three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Saturday.
    Kremer surrendered a two-run homer to Austin Riley in the first inning. Matt Olson then got to him for a solo shot in the third. Two doubles, a walk, and a base hit brought home two more runs to tie the game in the fourth. Kremer recorded the first out in the fifth and was relieved at 87 pitches. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 4.53 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and an 81/26 K/BB ratio across 101 1/3 innings into a start against the Marlins in Baltimore on Friday.

    Aaron Bummer allowed three runs with five strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday.
    Bummer drew the start for the Braves on Saturday in a bullpen game and tossed two scoreless inning with five strikeouts before the Orioles got to him in the third. Tyler O’Neill took him deep for a solo homer, followed by a two-run shot by Jordan Westburg that would end the day for Bummer. Dylan Dodd came in to relieve him and gave up two runs over 2 2/3.

    Gleyber Torres left Saturday’s game against the Guardians with an apparent injury.
    Torres was hit in the face by an elbow while he was sliding into second base. The 28-year-old appeared to be woozy before leaving the contest. It’s likely Torres will be likely be evaluated for concussion, and there should be information about his potential availability before Sunday’s finale against Cleveland.

    Shinnosuke Ogasawara will make his MLB debut against the Red Sox on Sunday.
    Ogasawara will get the call to pitch against Boston in the series finale. The 27-year-old was signed to a two-year by the Nationals, but suffered an oblique injury that has limited him to just 15 innings in the minors. He’s worth keeping an eye on, but there’s some significant fantasky risk in using Ogasawara on Sunday that doesn’t carry as much potential reward.
