Alec Marsh allowed two runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Royals’ 4-2 victory over the Twins on Saturday.
Marsh gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. Marsh allowed both runs in the third inning on an RBI triple by Jose Miranda and an RBI double by Matt Wallner. He has a 4.66 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 105 strikeouts in 116 innings this year. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Pirates on the road next week.

Harrison Bader (groin) is absent from the starting lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Bader was a gametime decision because of his groin issue, and while the 31-year-old will likely be available off the bench, he’ll sit to begin the must-win game for Philadelphia. With Bader out, the Phillies lineup will go: Trea Turner SS, Kyle Schwarber DH, Bryce Harper 1B, Alec Bohm 3B, Brandon Marsh CF, J.T. Realmuto C, Max Kepler LF, Nick Castellanos RF and Bryson Stott 2B.

  • DET Shortstop #28
Javier Báez knocked in four runs with a homer, a single and a groundout as the Tigers beat the Mariners 9-3 in Wednesday’s Game 4 to even up the ALDS.
Riley Greene and Gleyber Torres also went deep for the Tigers. Báez pulled a homer just foul prior his RBI single in the fifth. He then came back with a two-run blast the following inning, as the Tigers overcame a 3-0 deficit by scoring seven runs between the fifth and sixth. The homer was Báez’s first in the postseason since a two-homer NLCS Game 4 in 2017. He had been limited to one RBI through six games this October. With the Tigers’ win, the series will return to Seattle for a decisive Game 5 on Friday. Tarik Skubal will start with the Tigers, while the Mariners could turn to either George Kirby or Luis Castillo.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #50
Bryce Miller was charged with two runs in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday in Game 4 against the Tigers.
Miller cruised for four innings, facing just one over the minimum and throwing only 44 pitches. The fifth, however, started single, groundout, RBI double, and though only one of the balls was hit hard, Miller was pulled. The Tigers went on to score three runs in the inning and four more in the sixth to turn what had been a 3-0 game around in a big way.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Casey Mize allowed one run in three innings and struck out six in his Game 4 start against the Mariners on Wednesday.
Mize seemed to be in better shape today than when he was lifted after three innings against the Guardians last week, but the Tigers didn’t want him facing Josh Naylor for a second time in the fourth. He allowed just two hard-hit balls, which were also the only two hits. One was a double by Naylor in the second.
  • SEA 1st Baseman #12
Josh Naylor went 3-for-4 with a double and scored two of the Mariners’ three runs in Wednesday’s Game 4 loss.
Naylor was easily the player of the game on Seattle’s side. Besides the hits, he pulled off a nice double play at first and put down a good tag on Eduard Bazardo’s pickoff of Zach McKinstry in the sixth. Naylor, who avoided a stint on the paternity list after his baby was born on Monday’s off day, will surely be in the lineup for Game 5 against the Tigers on Friday.
  • LAD Catcher #16
Will Smith is catching and hitting fifth against the Phillies on Wednesday in Game 3 of the ALDS.
Smith will get the nod to start at catcher for the first time in the postseason after appearing off the bench in Game 1 and 2 against the Phillies. Ben Rortvedt will retreat to the bench with Smith handling backstop duties. The full lineup: Shohei Ohtani DH, Mookie Betts SS, Teoscar Hernández RF, Freddie Freeman 1B, Smith C, Enrique Hernández LF, Max Muncy 3B, Andy Pages CF and Tommy Edman 2B.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #39
Trey Yesavage will be available out of the bullpen Wednesday for game 4 of the ALDS against the Yankees.
Yesavage was sensational in Game 2 against the Yankees, and the 22-year-old will be a possible multi-inning option for Toronto with a chance to clinch a spot in the ALCS against the Mariners or Tigers. If he isn’t used, Yesavage could very well start either Game 5 of this series or the first game of that next round.
  • TOR Right Fielder #25
Anthony Santander is again in right field Thursday against the Yankees.
George Springer is DHing for the fourth straight game, Santander had a big misplay on a Cody Bellinger double last night, but he did go 2-for-4 with a double and an intentional walk. The Jays have made a couple of changes today with the Yankees throwing a right-hander for the first time since Saturday, but just the expected ones; they’re playing Nathan Lukes over Davis Schneider in left and Addison Barger over Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the infield.
  • TOR Shortstop #11
Bo Bichette has joined the Blue Jays in New York and was spotted jogging in the Yankees outfield on Wednesday.
Bichette had not resumed running as of Tuesday, so this seems like real progress as he returns from a knee sprain. That said, he did still seem to be limping some while walking, according to The Athletic’s Mitch Bannon.
  • NYY 1st Baseman #48
The Yankees are starting Paul Goldschmidt over Ben Rice at first base in Wednesday’s Game 4.
The Yankees have been going with six lefties against most right-handers, but Aaron Boone wanted more balance with the Jays throwing a bullpen game tonight. Of course, there’s still no room for switch-hitter Jasson Domínguez, who apparently returned to his home planet weeks ago.
