Luke Williams drove in two runs while going 2-for-4 in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Williams doubled home a pair in the ninth to make it a 9-4 game. Still counts. The 28-year-old could be starting games for Atlanta with the Whit Merrifield injury, but the team did just trade for Cavan Biggio, and Williams hasn’t shown he can hit nearly well enough to be considered a potential reliable fantasy contributor.

Jake Fraley finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in the Reds’ 5-2 takedown of the Mets on Saturday.
Fraley was in the lineup for the first time since coming off the injured list a week ago. That he sat against back-to-back lefties was expected, but he also took a seat in favor of Will Benson in the Reds’ previous game against a right-hander. Today, he got the nod over Benson versus Clay Holmes. That could be a day-by-day decision for the Reds, though putting the slumping Gavin Lux on the bench is also an option.
Alvarez looking 'more like himself' in Triple-A
Francisco Alvarez has found his bat in Triple-A after a "shocking," yet deserved demotion, and James Schiano details how the Mets catcher is looking "more like himself" after significant regression.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #28
Nick Martinez worked five innings and gave up two runs Saturday in a victory over the Mets.
Martinez allowed just two hard-hit balls today, though one was a homer and he still gave up six hits anyway. It was a solid showing, though, as he works to undo the damage of the 10-run calamity against the Marlins that took place 11 days ago. He’s 8-9 with a 4.73 ERA, and he’ll take on the Rays next week.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #15
Emilio Pagán hurled a scoreless ninth against the Mets for his 21st save Saturday.
Although it was a three-run game, it was a rather stressful inning for Pagán, who gave up a single to Luis Torrens and walked Brandon Nimmo before retiring Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso. He threw 26 pitches today on top of 12 yesterday, so he’ll probably rest Sunday. Tony Santillan might get a save chance then.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #35
Clay Holmes yielded five runs — four earned — in 5 1/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Reds.
It’s a little surprising the Mets didn’t sent Holmes to the back of the rotation after the break, but he was pitching on five days’ rest today. Workload is a concern for him in his first year back in the rotation, and he’s struggled some lately after thriving for the first three months of the season. His strikeout rate is just 12.5% during July, down from 27.5% in April and about 16.5% in both May and June. The loss leaves him 8-5 with a 3.48 ERA ahead of a start next week against the Giants.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #7
Brett Baty went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk against the Reds on Saturday.
Baty’s homer was crushed 110 mph against Nick Martinez, who allowed just one other hard-hit ball in the contest. The start today was Baty’s first in three games and second in five, as he sat out twice against lefties and once versus a righty. His .868 OPS this month is far better than Ronny Mauricio’s .642 or Mark Vientos’s .537, so it should at least be a little while before he sits against a righty again.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #80
Richard Fitts will start Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
Fitts will get first crack at taking the rotation spot that was previously occupied by Hunter Dobbins, with Dobbins now out for the year due a torn ACL. Fitts has shown flashes of being a competent fantasy option, but fantasy managers can likely find a better option for that Tuesday outing.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #41
Spencer Arrighetti is making a rehab start Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi.
Arrighetti will throw 45-50 pitches in his first rehab start since fracturing his thumb in early April. He’ll likely need to make multiple rehab starts before being a candidate to rejoin the Astros’ rotation in the middle of August.
  • HOU Shortstop #1
Brendan Rodgers suffered a nasal fracture and a concussion during a rehab game Saturday for Triple-A Sugar Land.
Rodgers is rehabbing from a left oblique strain, and this obviously counts as a setback. It occurred when ran headfirst into the knee of shortstop Edwin Diaz. The 28-year-old will assuredly be sitting until he passes the concussion protocol, and isn’t likely to be rejoining the Astros in the coming days.
  • MIA 2nd Baseman #6
Otto Lopez drove in all of the Marlins’ runs with a groundout and a double Saturday in a 3-1 victory over the Royals.
The double, a 108-mph liner to left that would have been a homer in 12 ballparks, broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. Lopez has two homers and eight RBI in his last five games. There isn’t a whole lot of middle-infield help available, so Lopez should be in demand at the deadline. The Marlins, though, will see him as part of the 2026 plans and won’t give him away. After all, he won’t even be arbitration eligible until after next season.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #47
Cal Quantrill shut out the Royals for six innings in a no-decision Saturday.
Quantrill, who hadn’t previously completed six innings this season, left with a 1-0 lead, but the Royals later tied it on a Salvador Perez homer before the Marlins ultimately won 3-1. Technically, this is Quantrill’s first quality start, since he’d never met the innings threshold previously. It’s the seventh time in 19 outings that he’s allowed two runs or fewer over five innings. He’s 3-8 with a 5.24 ERA, and he’ll get the Brewers next.
