José Berrios held Atlanta to one run in six innings to get a win for the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Berrios scattered five hits with one free pass issued, and he struck out five. He blanked the Atlanta lineup until the fifth when he gave up an RBI single to Michael Harris II. The right-hander is on a roll right now with six consecutive starts where he’s allowed no more than two runs, and he’s gone at least six innings in all of those outings. Berrios gets a chance to keep that streak going against the Cardinals over the weekend.

Pirates designated LHP Ryan Borucki for assignment.
Borucki will hit the waiver wire after the Pirates brought in two new arms for their bullpen. The 31-year-old would have the option to report back to Triple-A Indianapolis or test free agency if he goes unclaimed.
MIL 'eating the race' for NL Rookie of the Year
Trysta Krick and Vaughn Dalzell discuss the betting odds for NL Rookie of the Year; shining light on why the gap is closing and Milwaukee Brewers' Isaac Collins is the person to bet.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher
Pirates recalled LHP Evan Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Sisk was acquired from the Royals in the deal for Bailey Falter, and the 28-year-old will have a chance to make his debut with the Pirates. He’s put up impressive numbers in the minors, and was able to work around five walks in 5 1/3 innings with Kansas City in his previous stint to post a 1.69 ERA in that timeframe.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #35
Pirates recalled RHP Colin Holderman from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Holderman hasn’t pitched int he majors since May. The 29-year-old was a solid middle-inning option in the past, and that’s likely the role he’ll have with Pittsburgh for the remainder of 2025.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #66
Reds recalled LHP Joe La Sorsa from Triple-A Louisville.
La Sorsa is up to be a multi-inning reliever for Cincinnati with Chase Burns (flexor) placed on the 15-day injured list in the corresponding transaction.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #26
Reds placed RHP Chase Burns on the 15-day injured list with a right flexor strain.
Oh dear. It’s a Grade 1 flexor strain for Burns, and it’s very likely this injury will cost him more than the minimum two weeks that the 15-day stint requires. It comes after he threw 97 pitches and generated 14 swings-and-misses last week in a very impressive start against the Pirates. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to the plan the Reds lay out for Burns, which should be available in the coming days.
  • FA Left Fielder #0
    Mets released OF Rafael Ortega.
Ortega, who has spent parts of eight seasons in the majors, has been hurt for much of this year, though he did recently rejoin Triple-A Syracuse and go 3-for-16 with six RBI in five games. The 34-year-old is a lifetime .245/.322/.349 hitter in 1,301 plate appearances as a major leaguer.
  • TB Center Fielder #25
Rays optioned OF Tristan Peters to Triple-A Durham.
The move makes room for Bob Seymour on the roster. Peters was sent down on Monday, only to be recalled the next day with Taylor Walls going on the injured list. He’s gone 0-for-12 with seven strikeouts in four major league games.
  • SD Catcher #12
Luis Campusano went 3-for-5 with two homers for Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.
It was his second straight two-homer game. We were hoping Campusano would get thrown into one of the Padres’ deadline deals, but it didn’t happen. Since his defense just hasn’t come along and he’s already arbitration eligible, he’s not all that attractive as trade bait at the moment. However, he has hit .321/.431/.617 with 21 homers and a 63/53 K/BB in 348 plate appearances in Triple-A this season.
  • ARI Shortstop #10
Jordan Lawlar went 2-for-5 with a double in his return to Triple-A Reno’s lineup on Thursday.
Lawlar had been out since the end of June with a strained hamstring. He played third base last night and figures to mostly stay there as the D-backs groom him as Eugenio Suárez’s replacement. The current plan is probably for something like a Sept. 1 promotion, but maybe he could speed that up by getting off to a hot start.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #24
Robert Stephenson, out with a stretched nerve in his biceps, allowed two runs in an inning in his first rehab appearance for Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Stephenson averaged just 93.8 mph with his fastball last night, down from 98.5 mph in his one major league appearance this season and 96.9 mph pre-Tommy John surgery in 2023. The Angels will probably want to give him a couple of more appearances to build up before activating him.
