Royals sent RHP Dan Altavilla outright to Triple-A Omaha.
Altavilla can become a free agent if he’d like. He made five appearances for the Royals this season, giving up six runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Brewers recalled INF Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville.
Padres put King back on IL, this time for knee
James Schiano discusses San Diego Padres' Michael King, who has been placed back on the Injured List for knee inflammation, explaining why this is a cause for concern.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #32
Brewers activated RHP Jacob Misiorowski from the 15-day injured list.
  • ATL Catcher #9
Braves sent C Sandy León outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
León is now off the active and 40-man roster. The 36-year-old could be back before the end of 2025 as a depth piece, but he’ll need to rejoin the 40-man roster in order for that to take place.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Braves activated OF Ronald Acuña Jr. off the 10-day injured list.
Acuña missed almost exactly two weeks with his right calf strain, which was initially diagnosed as an Achilles injury. The 27-year-old offers enormous fantasy upside, but it’s fair to wonder if Atlanta will take more precautions with the outfielder with the team not in playoff contention. Still, fantasy managers should be thrilled to see him back.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #32
Jacob Misiorowski (shin) is starting Friday’s game against the Reds.
Well, there ya go. Misiorowski will make his return after being placed on the injured list with a tibia bruise near the start of August. The flame-throwing right-hander isn’t likely to work deep enough into the start to qualify for a decision, but he can obviously help fantasy managers with his ability to miss bats and limit the self-inflicted damage.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #27
Mark Vientos is hitting fifth as the designated hitter against the Mariners on Friday.
It’s the first time that Vientos has started since Saturday. He’ll get the start with Brett Baty getting the day off against Luis Castillo and Ronny Mauricio starting at second base.
  • STL Catcher #40
Willson Contreras (foot) is not in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Yankees.
Contreras is dealing with a foot contusion, and he’ll miss a second consecutive game with the injury. He should be considered day-to-day, but Alec Burleson will get the start at first base in his absence.
  • FA Left Fielder #16
Cooper Hummel elected free agency after being sent outright to Triple-A Sugar Land by the Astros.
Hummel will hit the market after hitting just .172/.301/.276 over 104 plate appearances with Houston. He should find a market, but there’s a decent if not better chance that he’ll need to sign another minor league contract with whatever club brings him in.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #43
Pirates designated LHP Ryan Borucki for assignment.
Borucki will hit the waiver wire after the Pirates brought in two new arms for their bullpen. The 31-year-old would have the option to report back to Triple-A Indianapolis or test free agency if he goes unclaimed.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher
Pirates recalled LHP Evan Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Sisk was acquired from the Royals in the deal for Bailey Falter, and the 28-year-old will have a chance to make his debut with the Pirates. He’s put up impressive numbers in the minors, and was able to work around five walks in 5 1/3 innings with Kansas City in his previous stint to post a 1.69 ERA in that timeframe.
