Gunnar Henderson doubled, walked twice, stole a base and scored three times Tuesday against the White Sox.
Coming off back-to-back disappointing months, Henderson has opened September 4-for-11 with a homer, four walks and two steals. Of course, it’s probably helped that his three games have come against the Rockies and White Sox. In spite of his struggles of late, Henderson is fifth in the majors with 106 runs scored and sixth with his 34 homers.

Ronald Acuña Jr. should be ready to return from his calf strain within the next couple of days, manager Brian Snitker said.
Friday’s series opener in Cleveland might be the plan here. Eli White should head back to the bench when Acuña is activated.
What's next for Alonso after making Mets history?
With Pete Alonso now alone atop the Mets' all-time home run leaderboard, Eric Samulski explores what could be next for the slugging first basemen and the only organization he's ever known.
  • ATL 3rd Baseman #27
Austin Riley is still dealing with soreness in the area around his abdominal strain and hasn’t ramped up workouts.
Riley is eligible to come off the injured list on Thursday, but it sounds like he’ll be out for at least another week. Nacho Alvarez Jr. has been filling in at third base.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #4
Ketel Marte went 4-for-6 with a go-ahead three-run homer in the ninth inning Wednesday as the D-backs topped the Rangers 6-4.
The Diamondbacks were down by two with none on and two outs in the top of the ninth and roared back with four runs against Phil Maton to stun the reeling Rangers. Marte is batting .297/.398/.558 with 23 homers in 88 games this season. Injuries have prevented him from putting up truly incredible numbers, but even so, he’s probably been the National League’s second-best player since the beginning of 2024.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #23
Zac Gallen allowed three runs over five innings Wednesday against the Rangers.
Gallen struck out only one with six whiffs and a 21% CSW in the 98-pitch outing. He has a nice enough 3.18 ERA in three starts this month, but an easy schedule has helped. He’s hard to recommend right now while pitching for a team playing out the string. At least he will skip the four-game series in Colorado this weekend and get Cleveland at home on Monday.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #27
Andrew Saalfrank notched his first career save with a perfect ninth Wednesday against the Rangers.
Saalfrank, who is two months removed from concluding a one-year gambling suspension, retired Sam Haggerty, Corey Seager and Marcus Semien in order. He’s allowed only one earned run in 14 innings for the Diamondbacks, though his 9/5 K/BB isn’t very impressive. It’s possible he’ll get additional saves, but no one in the Diamondbacks pen seems like a great option for fantasy rosters right now.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #23
Merrill Kelly pitched six innings of two-run ball against his former team but was left with a no-decision Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Kelly was in line for the win until the ninth, when the D-backs scored four times. He struck out five and walked one for his 14th quality start in 25 turns this season. He’s due to make his next start in Kansas City.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #88
Phil Maton was handed a blown save and a loss after giving up four runs in the ninth Wednesday against the D-backs.
Maton entered with one on and two outs in the eighth and struck out Tyler Locklear to end the inning. He then struck out Jake McCarthy and Alek Thomas to start the ninth in a two-run game, but a stunning meltdown followed. He gave up a homer to James McCann, hit Blake Alexander, walked Geraldo Perdomo and surrendered another homer to Ketel Marte. Maton had allowed just one homer in 43 1/3 innings this season coming into the day. He’s still probably the favorite for saves in Texas, but he better not blow another chance right away.
  • TEX 1st Baseman #21
Starting against a righty for the first time since coming off the IL, Jake Burger went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Burger sat in favor of Rowdy Tellez the last three days before getting the nod against Zac Gallen today. His homer came off Gallen, and he later added a single against fellow righty John Curtiss. We’ll have to wait and see whether this keeps him in the lineup against the Jays’ Chris Bassitt on Friday. Burger might still be of interest in mixed leagues if he resumes playing regularly.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #53
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Brandon Woodruff’s early exit Wednesday was planned ahead of time.
Of course, it wasn’t announced ahead of time. Woodruff, making his seventh start since returning from shoulder surgery, was lifted after throwing 65 pitches in four scoreless innings against the Pirates. It was his first start on four days’ rest.
  • MIL Catcher #24
William Contreras drove in four runs with two singles and a walk Wednesday as the Brewers trounced the Pirates 12-5 for a 12th straight win.
Contreras also had another walk that didn’t come with the bases loaded. The first of his singles left his bat at 110.5 mph. While Contreras has been a big fantasy disappointment this season, probably because of his thumb injury, things are getting better. His hard-hit rate has gone from 38.8% in April and 40.6% in May to 45.5% in June, 55.4% in July and 63.9% so far in August.
