  • KC Starting Pitcher #24
Michael Lorenzen (hamstring) has still not thrown a bullpen.
The Royals placed Lorenzen on the 15-day IL on August 29th and put a two- to three-week timeline on his return at that point. Up to now, Lorenzen has not thrown a bullpen yet as the team waits for his muscle to fully heal, but he has been keeping his arm in shape by playing catch. Until he throws a bullpen, it’s impossible to know exactly how long he’ll be out.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #57
Tigers optioned RHP Ricky Vanasco to Triple-A Toledo.
Vanasco, who was picked up from the Dodgers in July after DFA’d, made two appearances in 15 days with the Tigers, pitching a perfect inning each time.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #30
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Scott McGough from Triple-A Reno.
McGough has a 6.83 ERA in 29 innings for the Diamondbacks this season, but he was throwing well in Triple-A; his last six appearances had seen him allow one hit, walk none and struck out six in seven innings. He’ll work in middle relief.
  • ARI Catcher #25
Diamondbacks optioned C Adrian Del Castillo to Triple-A Reno.
The Diamondbacks decided the gloves of Luis Guillorme and Kevin Newman were worth more than Del Castillo’s bat with Gabriel Moreno back. That’s too bad for Del Castillo; he hit .313/.368/.525 with four homers in 87 plate appearances with Moreno out.
  • WAS Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams was deemed not yet ready to play after taking swings in the batting cage prior to Monday’s game against the Mets.
Abrams is missing a fourth straight start because of the shoulder injury he suffered Saturday. Nasim Nuñez is filling in at shortstop.
  • STL Shortstop #25
Thomas Saggese is out of the starting lineup Monday for the first time since the Cardinals called him up last week.
Saggese went 4-for-23 with a homer and a 6/0 K/BB while starting each of the previous six games. He’ll probably continue to start most of the time, since the Cardinals have switched to next-year mode.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #49
Rockies activated RHP Antonio Senzatela from the 60-day injured list.
Senzatela will face the Diamondbacks tonight in his first MLB start since May 10, 2023, when he blew out his elbow, and his third since Aug. 18, 2022, when he blew out his knee. We’re not expecting much in the way of fantasy results, but hopefully he’ll make it through these two or three end-of-season starts without anything else exploding.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #59
Rockies optioned RHP Jake Bird to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Bird had a 2.38 ERA over 11 1/3 innings in his latest stint with the Rockies. He surely drew the short straw in part because he threw 43 pitches the last two days.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #66
The Braves will have Grant Holmes start against the Reds in place of Reynaldo López on Tuesday.
The rotation held up well very all weekend against the Dodgers, so rather than call up a pitcher (and send down one of their only two relievers with options), the Braves can afford to pull Holmes out of the pen to make the start. He did throw 10 pitches on Saturday, so this probably won’t be a particularly lengthy outing for him.
  • ATL Second Baseman #1
Ozzie Albies will play in rehab games with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Assuming his fractured left wrist poses no major problems, he’ll likely rejoin the Braves on Friday. The switch-hitting Albies plans to exclusively bat right-handed until his wrist is closer to 100 percent.
  • PIT Second Baseman #38
Pirates selected the contract of INF/OF Nick Yorke from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Yorke is playing second base and batting seventh in his debut. He’s known as a second baseman, but the Red Sox introduced him to left field this year before trading him to Pittsburgh, and the Pirates started playing him all over the place after acquiring him at the deadline; in his final 16 games for Indianapolis, he started seven games at short, four at second, three in center, one at third and one in right field. We’d expect Yorke to play pretty regularly these last two weeks, and it’s possible he’ll offer some late value in deeper formats. He hit .333/.420/.498 in 78 games for his two Triple-A clubs.
