  • DET Shortstop #27

Trey Sweeney went 1-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Tigers to a 2-1 win over the Red Sox on Saturday.
Runs were hard to come by in Saturday’s pitcher’s duel between Tarik Skubal and Nick Pivetta. Sweeney brought both of Detroit’s runs in to score with a double in the second inning, scoring Zach McKinstry and Spencer Torkelson. The 24-year-old shortstop is slashing .194/.216/.333 with one homer and five RBI across 37 plate appearances.

Jorge Soler left Wednesday’s game against the Mets with an apparent injury.
Soler has been dealing with some nagging issues as of late, and it appears that has something to do with the early exit for the 33-year-old. Chris Taylor has moved to right field from third base, and Kevin Newman has taken over at third. Specifics on why Soler left Wednesday’s game should be available shortly.
Dodgers relievers to add following Scott's injury
With the Dodgers "all but a lock" to add a reliever before the trade deadline following Tanner Scott's injury, Eric Samulski assesses which arms could be in line for precious save opportunities.
  • MIL 1st Baseman #28
Andrew Vaughn is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s finale against the Mariners.
Vaughn will rest for the first time since the break. Tyler Black will get the start at first base for the finale against Seattle versus Luis Castillo.
  • COL Center Fielder #9
Brenton Doyle is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Cardinals.
Doyle will get another day off Wednesday, as he’s not been in the starting lineup in three of the seven games since the All-Star break. Mickey Moniak will get the start in center field in Doyle’s absence.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #27
Jose Altuve is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s bout against the Diamondbacks.
It’ll be the first time Altuve doesn’t start for the Astros since June 10. The 35-year-old gets a breather with Cooper Hummel in left field as Houston looks to complete a three-game sweep.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #36
Michel McGreevy will start Sunday’s game against the Padres.
McGreevy will get the nod after the Cardinals designated Erick Fedde for assignment Wednesday. In his spot start Monday against the Rockies he worked seven innings while allowing just two runs, and that earns him another turn in the rotation. McGreevy does not have great swing-and-miss potential, so there’s risk in his fantasy profile, but his ability to limit weak contact and throw strikes makes him someone who is worthy of consideration against a considerable amount of lineups.
  • FA Catcher #62
    Twins released C Diego Cartaya.
Cartaya was at one point one of the top prospects in the sport, but he has seen his stock (obviously) fall precipitously. Prior to his release, Cartaya was 5-fot-69 (.085) with a .353 OPS. He’s still only 23, so someone might give him a shot as a reclamation project.
  • SEA Catcher #29
Cal Raleigh is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Brewers.
Raleigh doesn’t get many days of rest, but after hitting his 39th homer of the season Tuesday, the 28-year-old will begin the finale against the Brew Crew on the bench. Mitch Garver will be behind the plate with Jorge Polanco lined up as the designated hitter.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Bobby Witt Jr. is not in the starting lineup against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Witt suffered a leg injury during Tuesday’s game against Chicago, but the shortstop told reporters that this is a rest day and he could be in the lineup if needed. It’ll be the first day off of the season for Witt and the 25-year-old will get a day of maintenance with Maikel Garcia moving over to shortstop and Tyler Tolbert getting the start at third base.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #17
Bailey Ober (hip) will start on Friday for Triple-A St. Paul.
There had been reports that Ober would start this week against the Dodgers, but it seems like the Twins want to give him at least one more start before bringing him back into the rotation. He would be able to slide back in and take David Festa’s spot in the rotation and would be lined up to start against the Red Sox next Wednesday.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #58
Twins placed RHP David Festa on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
Festa allowed three homers in his loss to the Dodgers on Monday, and it’s possible the shoulder issues played a factor. He’ll be out through the rest of July, and the Twins should provide a timeline for a potential return in the coming days, if not sooner.
