Kevin Gausman was shaky in a loss to the Athletics on Saturday while allowing four runs — three earned — over five innings.
It was Gausman’s final start of the first half, and it wasn’t a terribly effective one. He did give up an unearned run, but he also only struck out two against two walks, and gave up a two-run blast to Brent Rooker. The 34-year-old was once a fantasy ace, but he hasn’t pitched that level over the last year and a half. He’ll enter the break with a 4.19 ERA and 104/35 K/BB across 109 2/3 innings, and he’ll likely make his first start of the second half next weekend against the Giants.
