  • MIL Relief Pitcher #25
Brewers placed RHP Nick Mears on the 15-day injured list with right forearm inflammation.
Mears was placed on the injured list over the weekend and is probably going to miss at least a couple weeks. The 27-year-old was acquired from the Rockies back at the trade deadline and has struggled in 11 relief outings for Milwaukee.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Kodai Senga, out since July 26 with a strained calf, wants to pitch an inning in a Triple-A game this weekend.
Senga isn’t going to be stretched out to start games at the beginning of the playoffs, but he’s still hoping to contribute. The Mets still have to decide whether it’s worth the risk; the last thing they need for 2025 and beyond is for Senga to hurt something else while trying to accommodate his leg injury.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #35
Gavin Stone has continued to deal with shoulder soreness and is very unlikely to return this year, manager Dave Roberts said.
Very unfortunate. Stone wasn’t going to be the NL Rookie of the Year this year even if he didn’t get hurt, but he was putting together a season that would have had him in contention many years. He was 11-5 with a 3.53 ERA in 140 1/3 innings when he went down Aug. 31.
  • DET Second Baseman #33
Colt Keith is out of the lineup Wednesday because of the shoulder injury he suffered last night.
Keith tested the shoulder on the field before the game, but it seemed he wasn’t quite ready for game action. Zach McKinstry is playing second base tonight.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw threw 80 pitches in a successful bullpen session Wednesday.
Manager Dave Roberts indicated that Kershaw’s troublesome big toe is doing better now. Kershaw will still need to face hitters at least once before pitching in a big-league game. It’s possible, though, that he’ll get into one game next week in order to gear up for the postseason.
  • LAD Right Fielder #50
Mookie Betts, who had only started in the outfield since returning from a broken hand, is playing second base on Wednesday.
It’s Betts’ first start at second since May 29. He started 11 games at second and 61 at short during the first half of the season. Chris Taylor is getting the start in left with Betts in the infield. Teoscar Hernández slides from left to right.
  • LAD Shortstop #11
Miguel Rojas is out tonight because of some leg soreness, he said.
Rojas expects to be back at shortstop on Thursday. Andy Pages replaced him in tonight’s lineup, with Tommy Edman moving from center to short.
  • NYM Shortstop #12
Francisco Lindor has yet to resume baseball activities as he deals with his sore back.
It looks like Lindor’s absence, which he said would be 2-3 or 3-5 days, might turn out to be more like 5-6 or 6-8 days. But we’ll see. Once he resumes workouts, he’ll certainly push to get back into the lineup. Luisangel Acuña will continue to fill in.
  • SD Center Fielder #28
With Fernando Tatis Jr. DHing, Brandon Lockridge is making his first start for the Padres on Wednesday.
Lockridge is playing right field. Luis Arraez, the Padres’ usual DH, is out of the lineup, perhaps in part because of the little knee injury he suffered Monday. Lockridge, who was called up a week ago, is 0-for-2 with a steal in five appearances off the Padres bench.
  • HOU Left Fielder #30
Kyle Tucker is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Padres.
Tucker will get a day off Wednesday as the team continues to give the 27-year-old some maintenance days. Jose Altuve is the DH so Yordan Alvarez will start in left field, and Jason Heyward is getting the start in right.
  • LAD Shortstop #11
Miguel Rojas has been scratched from Wednesday’s lineup against the Marlins.
No reason has been given as to why Rojas has been removed from the lineup just yet. Tommy Edman is now the starting shortstop, and Enrique Hernandez is lining up at second base.
