  • LAA First Baseman #18
Nolan Schanuel is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s bout against the Blue Jays.
Schanuel was expected to miss the weekend while dealing with back stiffness, so it’s not a surprise to see him not in the lineup for the finale against Toronto. Niko Kavadas will start in Schanuel’s place at first base and hit eighth. Schanuel is considered day-to-day.
  • TB First Baseman #2
Yandy Diaz is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Diaz will get a break for the Wednesday affair against Boston. Jonathan Aranda will get the start and hit fourth while Diaz rests.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher
Marlins designated RHP Jeff Lindgren for assignment.
Ryan Weathers (finger) was taken off the 60-day injured list for a start Wednesday, so the Marlins needed to boot someone off the 40-man roster. They chose Lindgren, who will hit the waiver wire and likely not see much interest.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #60
Marlins activated LHP Ryan Weathers off the 60-day injured list.
Weathers will make the start Wednesday against the Dodgers. The 24-year-old southpaw missed three months while recovering from a strained finger on his pitching hand. Weathers has flashed the talent that made him a first-round pick in 2018, but this is a tough lineup to be brought back against.
  • DET Catcher #6
Tigers signed Tomás Nido to a minor-league contract.
Nido was released by the Cubs at the end of August, and it took a bit to find his new home. The 30-year-old will just be organizational depth, and if the Tigers sneak into the postseason, he won’t be eligible as he joined the team after August 31.
  • CWS Third Baseman #10
Yoan Moncada is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Angels.
Moncada is on the bench for the third straight day after being activated off the 60-day injured list. White Sox manager Grady Sizemore provided some clarity on the situation, and it’s not terribly kind to Moncada’s prospectus with the team. “Still trying to get [Bryan] Ramos and [Miguel] Vargas reps at third,” Sizemore said. “I know we’re going to have these guys next year, they’re part of our future. Whereas we’re not really sure how Moncada fits into our future.” Safe to say that 2025 team option isn’t being picked up, folks.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #43
Orioles recalled RHP Bryan Baker from Triple-A Norfolk.
Baker is up after the Orioles decided to move on from Craig Kimbrel with Kimbrel being designated for assignment. Baker, 29, will provide a mid-to-late inning option for the Baltimore bullpen.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #46
Orioles designated RHP Craig Kimbrel for assignment.
Kimbrel is off the active and 40-man roster after giving up six runs in 2/3 of an inning Tuesday, and he’s allowed runs in three-straight appearances. The 36-year-old got off to a nice start with Baltimore and saved 23 games, but it unraveled rather quickly. Bryan Baker is up to take Kimbrel’s place on the roster. The question now is if a team has any interest in Kimbrel’s services for 2024.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #82
Reds recalled LHP Brandon Leibrandt from Triple-A Louisville.
Leibrandt is up to replace Brandon Williamson (arm) with Williamson placed on the 15-day injured list. Leibrandt will give the Reds a multi-inning option while he’s with the club.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #55
Reds placed LHP Brandon WIlliamson on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow sprain.
Williamson picked up the injury during his start Tuesday against Atlanta. The 26-year-old left-hander’s season is over, and while injuries were a major part of his 2024 season, he showed enough flashes when healthy to suggest he could be a fantasy-relevant hurler in 2025.
  • LAA Center Fielder #16
Mickey Moniak (hand) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox.
Moniak has a hand contusion and hasn’t been able to play since leaving with the injury Sunday. He’ll continue to recover while Jordyn Adams gets the start in center field.
