Cedric Mullins was pulled from Friday’s game against the Astros due to tightness in his left quad.
It’s unclear exactly when the injury occurred, but Mullins was replaced by Austin Slater defensively. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the extent of the issue. Expect the Orioles to provide an update and a timeline on his recovery as soon as more information becomes available.

Brewers optioned RHP Easton McGee to Triple-A Nashville.
McGee has made four appearances with the Brewers this season, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 5/3 K/BB ratio over six innings of work. No word yet on a corresponding move just yet, the Brewers will ride it out over the All-Star break before setting their roster before opening the second half of the season against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Friday.
Players to watch in MLB All-Star Futures Game
James Schiano spotlights the rising stars to watch in this weekend's 2025 All-Star Futures Game in Atlanta.
  • MIL Center Fielder #16
Brewers activated OF Blake Perkins from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.
Time had run out on Perkins’ minor league rehab assignment so they needed to activate him from the 60-day injured list. He’ll remain at Triple-A Nashville, where he had been rehabbing, until the Brewers have a need for an extra outfielder.
  • MIL Center Fielder #18
Brewers designated OF Drew Avans for assignment.
The Brewers needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Blake Perkins from the 60-day injured list and unfortunately Avans drew the short straw this time around. It seems likely that the 29-year-old outfielder will pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra outfield depth for the Brewers.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #64
Tigers signed RHP Geoff Hartlieb to a minor league contract.
The 31-year-old hurler elected free agency from the Yankees on Friday and it didn’t take him long to find another viable opportunity with a contender. He’ll report to Triple-A Toledo to begin his Tigers’ tenure, but don’t be surprised to see him in Motown shortly after the All-Star break.
  • CWS Center Fielder #88
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, at least eight teams have reached out to the White Sox to express interest in acquiring Luis Robert Jr.
The dynamic 27-year-old outfielder is having a brutal season offensively, slashing .189/.275/.322 with nine homers, 34 RBI and 22 stolen bases. The common assumption though is that he just needs a change of scenery. Heyman didn’t note any of the teams that have checked in, but expect it to be a who’s who of contenders in both leagues.
  • STL 2nd Baseman #15
José Fermín hit his first career homer, a two-run shot off Jesse Chavez, to lead the Cardinals past the Braves 5-4 on Sunday.
Fermín’s homer in his 159th plate appearances since debuting with the Cardinals in 2023. It’s his ability to make contact that has him in the majors, and he’s gone 7-for-18 with a 2/2 K/BB in his 10 appearances this season. St. Louis, though, might send him down when Jordan Walker comes off the IL.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #54
Sonny Gray allowed one run over three innings and struck out five in a rain-shortened outing against the Braves on Sunday.
It looked like this was going to be a really good one for Gray, who already had nine whiffs and got through three innings on just 36 pitches. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Gray ends the first half 9-3 with a 3.50 ERA and a 118/19 K/BB in 108 innings. The short outing probably means he’ll start the Cardinals’ first game back after the break against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #56
Ryan Helsley tossed a scoreless ninth with a one-run lead for a save Sunday against the Braves.
Helsley gave up a walk and a single to start the inning, but he rebounded to retire Matt Olson, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Sean Murphy. It was his 19th save in 24 opportunities.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #58
Making his first start for the Braves, Davis Daniel surrendered one run in four innings Sunday against the Cardinals.
Daniel came back out after the first rain delay in the third inning but not following the second in the fifth. He might have been done even if not for that second delay, as the Braves wouldn’t have expected to approach 90-100 pitches after sitting around for over an hour. The solid effort should keep Daniel around in the rotation after the break. If he remains in the rotation, he’d probably face the Giants next Monday or Tuesday.
  • STL Catcher #40
Willson Contreras had a game-tying two-run double in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the Braves.
This was an odd day for Contreras; he had a flyout on a 109.1-mph missile with a .980 xBA and a double on a 78.6-mph flyball with a .040 xBA. That double surely would have been caught by Ronald Acuña Jr. under normal circumstances, but because the field was wet after two delays and he had an infielder closing in on him as he ran in, the ball dropped.
