Nick Lodolo allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Pirates on Thursday.
Lodolo gave up two hits, walked three and struck out nine. He’s allowed at least five runs in three of his last five starts, but this time he did it while only giving up two hits. With two outs and a man on base in the fifth inning, Lodolo proceeded to allow a walk, a hit by pitch, an RBI single, and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. He was removed from a 2-0 game with the bases loaded and all three runs came around to score. Once again, the strikeouts were nice but Lodolo now has a 4.76 ERA on the year. The 26-year-old left-hander is set to face the Athletics at home next week.
