  • OAK Starting Pitcher #35
Athletics recalled RHP Joe Boyle from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Boyle, 24, has been outstanding in Triple-A as of late with a 1.83 ERA and ridiculous 38/7 K/BB over his 19 2/3 innings. The right-hander has shown some decent moments in the majors, but he’s tough to trust as a fantasy option for a wide variety of reasons.
  • SD Second Baseman #4
Luis Arraez had a sore knee after sliding into home plate Monday, but he’s hopeful he can play Tuesday.
Arraez was more upset about striking out for the first time since Aug. 10 than he was about the knee. He’ll probably DH if he is in the lineup Tuesday, but that’s been his spot for the most part lately anyway.
  • CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi delivered his 18th and 19th homers and walked twice as the White Sox topped the Angels 8-4 on Monday.
Incredibly enough, Benintendi is now just one homer away from matching his career high from his first full season in 2017. He has 11 homers since the beginning of August after totaling just eight over the first four months. He has eight career two-homer games: three in 2017, two in 2021 and now three this year.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #48
Jonathan Cannon won Monday despite allowing four runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Angels.
It’s not only the first time this year that a White Sox pitcher has allowed four runs and won, but it’s the first time a White Sox pitcher has allowed three runs and won. That had happened about 250 times across the league this year, but never with the Chris Getz’s club. Cannon had allowed a total of two runs in his previous three wins. This moves him to 4-10 with a 4.61 ERA ahead of his next start against the Padres.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #48
Reid Detmers was lit up for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings by the White Sox in a loss Monday.
Lol. Detmers gave the Angels quality starts against the Twins and Dodgers after being recalled at the beginning of the month, yet he completely fell apart against MLB’s worst team, giving up three homers to a club that had averaged 0.79 per game. We’ll probably peg Detmers as a 2025 sleeper if the Angels opt to move him this winter, but it’s pretty easy to see why his current team has been so frustrated with him.
  • LAA First Baseman #34
Eric Wagaman hit his first big-league homer Monday in the loss to the White Sox.
Wagaman was primary a first baseman in the minors, but the Angels have him playing third in Anthony Rendon’s absence, and he came through tonight. The 27-year-old is now 4-for-20 as a big leaguer. It’s imperative that he finish strong if he expects to stick on the Angels’ 40-man this winter.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #66
James McArthur was forced from Monday’s game by right elbow tightness, the Royals announced.
This is normally a pitching-type injury, but it appeared McArthur got hurt on a play at first base. If he requires an IL stint, as seems likely, he’ll miss the rest of the regular season.
  • HOU Left Fielder #12
The Astros are planning on placing Ben Gamel on the injured list with his left knee contusion.
No word yet on who will come up his place, but Trey Cabbage, Pedro León and César Salazar would seem to be the likely candidates. Jason Heyward will continue to get extra at-bats with Gamel sidelined.
  • DET First Baseman #20
Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-5 against the Royals on Monday.
Torkelson has hits in his last seven games as he continues to alternate hot and cold streaks. He’s 10-for-26 (.385) with four RBI in that time. He’s 28-for-102 (.274) with four home runs and 14 RBI in 27 game since being recalled from Triple-A. Torkelson is hitting .225 with a .661 OPS and 32 RBI overall on the year.
  • DET Second Baseman #33
Colt Keith went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run against the Royals on Monday.
Keith’s home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Seth Lugo in the fifth inning to bring the Tigers within a run. Keith was hitting .152 with no home runs on May 5th. Since then, he’s 114-for-392 (.291) with 13 home runs and 50 RBI in 108 games. A lot of players’ numbers would look better with their slow start removed, but there’s no question Keith has been one of the best rookies since the beginning of May. Having just turned 23 in August, Keith is one of the best young hitters in baseball. He’s hitting .263 with a .698 OPS and 58 RBI on the year.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and a stolen base against the Tigers on Monday.
Witt Jr.'s home run was his 32nd of the year. He hit a grand slam off Reese Olson in the third inning. Witt Jr’s stolen base was his 29th of the season. He’s putting the finishing touches on an incredible fantasy season that will have him off the board in the top three picks in 2025 drafts. Witt Jr. is hitting .332 with a .984 OPS and 108 RBI on the year.
